21 years old. He flashed at the senior bowl. Some thought if he returned to Georgia he might be a 1st round next year. Sounds like a stud in 2 years

  Looks like we're done early

What a difference from the Spielman days of piling up 10-14 draft picks!
Last pick at 172 (5/36).

Nothing in Round 6 or Round 7.  Feels strange.

But I echo Kwesi's more recent comments about picking for sticking, quality rather than numbers.
And I believe that the Draft and Free Agency combined (in addition to trades of course) should be viewed as complementary tools to build a roster.

Winning the draft or winning Free Agency is not the same as...winning.  I've certainly become far less engrossed in getting high grades in our draft.  FA is a far better predictor of what you're getting.

So here's what I think of where we are sitting after FA and the Draft.

1.  You cannot argue with Kwesi honoring KOCs desire to rebuild the IOL.  Draft Donovan Jackson.  Done.
2.  Hard to imagine having a better FA period than last spring...but IMO I think we did.  Combining two years worth of FA has transformed our roster.
3.  Picked up a backup QB in Sam Howell with that trade.  Not a lot of capital there.  Combined with Rypien, I think our QB room is definitely not as good as last season, but it's acceptable...as long as JJM doesn't get hurt.  That answers a pressing question.

Only two things remain to be answered:
1.  Pick 172 (I am not envisioning a trade down for more warm bodies)
2.  UDFA...is there another Ivan Pace Jr out there?

  Shedeur to Browns at 144

They'd already taken Dillon Gabriel at 95 so he's not big-timing anyone in that locker room.

142 and Howell for 172

Kwesi gets QB2 without losing a pick.

Could Milroe to Seattle result in our backup QB
Posted by: JR44 - 04-26-2025, 09:25 AM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (6)

Seahawks now with Darnold, Luck, Howell, Milroe and a familiar name, Jaren Hall on their roster.  A lot of rumors of them shopping Howell now and could see Hall possibly being released.  How about a swap of the first pick in the 5th for Howell and their 5th which is at the end of the 5th?

  Love the Viking's picks/Sanders
Posted by: StickierBuns - 04-26-2025, 04:12 AM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (2)

Really like what KAM has done so far with Jackson and Felton. Felton gives that speed that KOC has hinted about for a few years at WRer that is the only element missing in that room. He's more than speed, and important with Nailor going into his last contract year and longer term that Addison probably won't stay a Viking. He's a better WR3 than Nailor and brings new elements to the offense.

I know that some fans need that adrenaline of their teams taking big swings or moving around the Draft, but sometimes its better to stick and pick. I do like the mini move down, so now they'll have 2 of the first 4 picks in round 5, should be some good talent there as well. I wonder if they'd consider a guy like DT Deone Walker with one of those?

The disingenuous fake outrage of some media personalities over Sanders is so gross and contrived. When engagement is the key to your success, anything goes and the sheep on Twitter mindlessly oblige the Stephen A Smiths of the world with clicks, views and rebuttals to completely manufactured rage responses. Sanders isn't good enough and nobody wants the circus....blame Coach < Prime. Blame his ridiculous 'Pro Day' that is now being leaked as 100% garbage and arrogance. Blame some of the stupid shit that Shedeur has said in public. The whores at ESPN have stirred the pot well and I think its time for Mel Kiper to retire.

Keep doing what you are doing, KAM! Love it so far. Strib story below on Jackson:

  Tai Felton
Posted by: JustInTime - 04-25-2025, 10:33 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (93)

Tai Felton projects as an immediate contributor from the slot with eventual potential to develop into a starting Z-receiver in systems that prize route technicians over pure athletes. He not only can take the top off defenses with 4.3 speed, but can also be the one moving chains on third down with crafty stems and sharp breaks that corners just can't mirror.

His NFL ceiling will be determined by his ability to add functional strength without sacrificing the quickness that makes him special. Teams running timing-based passing games like San Francisco, Green Bay, and Cincinnati should have Felton highlighted on their draft boards as a potential Day 2 selection. Give him a quarterback who throws with anticipation rather than waiting for receivers to be wide open, and Felton could become one of those receivers who quietly accumulates 70+ catches annually while rarely making highlight reels.

Felton runs angry despite his slender build, and that competitive toughness suggests he'll outperform several receivers selected before him. His development curve hasn't plateaued yet – this is a player still ascending as he enters the league, with the football IQ and technical foundation to become a quarterback's most trusted target on crucial downs.

Honestly, I looked at so few WRs I have zero feel for this guy. Really thought we’d go Samson here.

Slender WR from Maryland you say.
