If anybody cares...Vikings currently have the 14th pick.

One nugget of interest, if the season ended today, the Rams would have a top 10 pick from Atlanta (yes that same Falcons unit that dog walked the Vikings) for the James Pearce trade. That Rams organization is just a well run unit from top to bottom.

Matt LaFleur 'coaching for his job' for the rest of '25

That's the rumor. High expectations and a middling overrated QB don't mix. Part of the issue he's such a redass....does more complaining and bitching on the sidelines of any coach in the NFL.

Smile Packers Defense not happy

...not happy with the offense.  The Eagles got the best of them last night.

However, I am quite happy with their offensive offense.

  OT: 50 years ago now

This is still a big deal and remembered with reverence here in MN, Michigan, Oh, Wi, Canada etc...

Hard to believe its been 50 years now.

God rest the 29 souls of The Edmund Fitzgerald.
===========================================

TWO HARBORS, MINN. – The SS Edmund Fitzgerald sank in a wicked storm 50 years ago on Lake Superior. On Monday, at Split Rock Lighthouse, where the doomed ship passed on its final trip, the sun shone bright on a chilly day and the water below merely rippled.

An annual event paying homage to the crew — including the names of the 29 lost men read aloud, a bell ringing after each, and then the lighting of the historic beacon — drew thousands to the North Shore.

  OT: 50 year mortgages?
Posted by: StickierBuns - 11-11-2025, 05:15 AM - Forum: Sensitive Topics - Replies (111)

Really? This is the burden we want to saddle the financially ignorant of our country with? Its beyond stupid and basically insidious. Homeowners will build equity much more slowly and could, ultimately, end up on the hook for almost double the interest they’d pay compared to a standard 30-year mortgage. Selling souls to the company store (lenders).

Anybody else not getting to watch MNF?

I'm a youtubetv subscriber so I can get all the Viking games. Well now, YouTubetv and ESPN/Disney/ABC are in a spat and no longer broadcasting these channels, which means I get zero college football or Monday Night Football. It's such bullshit the way these streaming services operate. Now my only option is to subscribe to ESPN for an additional $30 bucks a month, and I simply refuse to do it. They absolutely try to gauge the consumer for every dime they can get. Assholes

  Tagliabue dies at 84
Posted by: purplefaithful - 11-10-2025, 04:53 PM - Forum: The Longship - No Replies

Paul Tagliabue, who served as NFL commissioner for 17 seasons as the league experienced tremendous prosperity and growth, died Sunday morning at the age of 84, his family announced.

The apparent cause of death was heart failure complicated by Parkinson's disease.

Tagliabue became commissioner in 1989, taking over for Pete Rozelle. He was succeeded by current commissioner Roger Goodell in 2006.

"Paul was the ultimate steward of the game -- tall in stature, humble in presence and decisive in his loyalty to the NFL. He viewed every challenge and opportunity through the lens of what was best for the greater good, a principle he inherited from Pete Rozelle and passed on to me," Goodell said in a statement Sunday.

"... I am forever grateful and proud to have Paul as my friend and mentor. I cherished the innumerable hours we spent together where he helped shape me as an executive but also as a man, husband and father."

  Daboll Nuked...
Posted by: purplefaithful - 11-10-2025, 03:55 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (5)

The New York Giants fired head coach Brian Daboll following Sunday’s 24-20 defeat against the Chicago Bears, the team told CNN on Monday.

The loss condemned New York to a 2-8 start through its first 10 games of the 2025 NFL season.

Daboll ended his time as Giants head coach with a 20-40-1 regular season record.

Mike Kafka, the Giants’ offensive coordinator, will take over as head coach on an interim basis, a team spokesperson said.

Team president John Mara and chairman Steve Tisch released a joint statement noting that it was in “our best interest to make a change” in moving on from Daboll and that the pair takes “full responsibility” for the results over the last three years.

“The past few seasons have been nothing short of disappointing, and we have not met our expectations for this franchise. We understand the frustrations of our fans, and we will work to deliver a significantly improved product,” the statement read.

Mara and Tisch said general manager Joe Schoen will remain with club.

TJH having a great year being that safety blanket for a rook QB

Its not happening, part of it by design

I'm losing some of my affinity for keeping TJH around much more after this season.

ytd: 31 receptions, 241 yds, 2 tds
