Mike Zimmer says he's 'got a plan' — interpretation: Stay ready, Teddy
Posted by: purplefaithful - 11-13-2017, 03:55 AM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (14)

Mike Zimmer says he's 'got a plan' — interpretation: Stay ready, TeddyTeddy Bridgewater remains the Vikings' best hope for the future. Now all coach Mike Zimmer has to decide is when the future will resume.
– After an NFL game, reporters and camera operators flood each locker room. The head coach and starting quarterback will walk to an interview room; most players will speak in front of their dressing stalls.
By the end of the night, countertops in the press box will be heaped with a forest's worth of paper bearing transcribed quotes, enough to create a bonfire of the inanities. Sunday, Mike Zimmer said more in one short, subtle sentence than all of those recyclables combined, at once writing the mystery of the season and hinting at its ending.
"Well,'' he said. "I've got a plan.''
The Vikings had just beaten Washington 38-30 at FedEx Field. Zimmer's team is 7-2. His current starting quarterback, Case Keenum, played the best half of his career to give the Vikings a 28-17 lead, then survived two amateurish interceptions to run his and the team's winning streak to five.
Zimmer was given a chance to say that Keenum remains his starter, to quell a week's worth of questions before a big game against Keenum's former team, and in that moment he may have revealed how badly he wants Teddy Bridgewater to be his quarterback.
"We'll just see how it goes,'' Zimmer said. "Sometimes plans change. We'll see how it goes and we'll sit down this week and visit about it and kind of go from there.''

Going on record, Teddy starts next week
Posted by: greediron - 11-13-2017, 02:21 AM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (104)

I think this game was exactly the reason Teddy starts next week.  We had a big lead and Case went off script and launched an horrible floater into triple coverage.

Zimmer mentioned it it locker room.  And after 2nd int, keenum was barely allowed to pass.

I think the coaches said let's just get out with a win and move on.

I think next week with a script to get TB on a good start, they will have the game plan set for TB.

VikeFans Locker Room Interview with David Morgan - 2 min

David is very friendly every time anyone speaks to him.  He was pleased for his TD, and took a lot of ribbing from his WR teammates.  See other post for details.

  VikeFans Tidbits from the LockerRoom

* Adam Thielen spent time dogging David Morgan after our interview.  "Star of the game...player of the week, he's the big cheese".   All in fun and they had a time with him.  Stefon Diggs stepped in and added "1 f*cking pass catch, 1!  Where my interview?"   Again, typical guy trash talking

* We spoke briefly in passing to Teddy Bridgewater (he did a pooled interview, but we typically don't cover those, as it's the same story for everyone).  He was so happy, and glad to be back

* CJ Ham says he gladly will take the title from Leroy Hoard ("need a yard, I'll get you 3.  Need 5? I'll get you three")

* Never seen a guy look so tired after a game than Brian Robison did.  He was just spent and sat in his locker room chair for about half an hour

* What food did the players get for the bus ride to the charter flight from Reagan National Airport?   Chicken, brisket and ribs.

* Linval Joseph spent the evening trying to video bomb our interviews.  You will clearly see his smiling mug block Pete Bercich during our post game show

* Nick Easton said he was so happy to be healthy and back on the field.

Just a few of the things we saw, that we wanted to share.
