Per ESPN's Molly McGrath, Alabama junior QB Tua Tagovailoa is undergoing X-rays on his right hip after being carted off the field in the second quarter of Saturday's game against Mississippi State.Tagovailoa (6'1/218) was carted off the field in significant pain in the second quarter, with McGrath passing along that he was "screaming" in agony when later taken off the cart. He was already dealing with a sore surgically-repaired right ankle, but this new apparent hip injury sounds as though it could be a significantly larger concern. Mac Jones will fill in at quarterback for the remainder of Saturday's contest, but obviously, the larger worry here is that Tagovailoa could end up missing real down-the-stretch time. We'll stress that it's still early and we don't have all the information. But this sounds bad.

Alabama senior DT Raekwon Davis was helped off the field with an apparent ankle injury in the second quarter of Saturday's game against Mississippi State. What a day for Alabama. Davis (6'7/305) was forced out injured just minutes after Tua Tagovailoa went down with an apparently serious right hip injury. The Crimson Tide lead 35-7 at the half, but that's of secondary concern to the health of their big dogs. Count Davis as questionable to return. There is no real need to keep the senior in the game if this is any kind of a real injury.

According to Aaron Suttles of The Athletic, Alabama junior QB Tua Tagovailoa suffered a dislocated hip with a posterior wall fracture during Saturday's 38-7 win over Mississippi State and will not return this season. This is absolutely brutal. Tagovailoa (6'1/218) suffered the injury late in the second quarter, and after undergoing X-rays at the stadium he was transported to a hospital in Birmingham via helicopter. While this is huge news for Alabama as it looks to win another national title, with Mac Jones now the starter, it's also big with regards to the 2020 NFL Draft. Tagovailoa has been viewed by many analysts as the top draft-eligible prospect in the class, with a shot at being selected with the first overall pick. But with Saturday's developments, it is unknown when (or if) he'll be able to get back on the football field.

Typical Saban football, totally grinds his players.  Anyone who watched Tua last week knew it was questionable that he should have been playing.  Why he was playing this week against a team they were going to beat with or without him was totally on Saban who wanted to win by 70, which was the same reason he was still in the game leading 35-7.  This injury is all on Saban.  If he really cared about his players health and future, Tua never would have stepped foot on the field today.

Tua's career, the NCAA playoffs and the top 10 picks all changed today from that injury.  Wow. Not good.

Horrible for Tua... but a sneaking 10% of me is glad  Alabama is now probably out of the CFP.   The Oregon-Utah winner in the Pac-12, or even Oklahoma from the Big 12 if they take Baylor again in the Big 12/10 title game will have a better resume than Alabama.
