Adrian Peterson emotional after milestone in Minnesota

Washington running back Adrian Peterson moved away from Minnesota after 10 seasons, but he was nothing but moved upon his return Thursday night.
After the former Vikings star moved up to sixth on the all-time rushing list, he was shown on both scoreboards at US Bank Stadium, giving the local fans a chance to give him an ovation.
I had to hold tears back, to be honest,” Peterson said, via John Keim of ESPN.com. “It was special, a special moment.”
His current team lost the game 19-9, but Peterson had another solid night, with 76 yards on 14 carries.
“Just coming back and seeing the love they still have for me and they showed, man, it felt good,” Peterson said. “Even in defeat I’m able to embrace it and take it for what it was and it meant a lot. I spent a decade here so just to see that ovation and the love they showed it was meaningful. . . .
“There was a couple times during the game I caught myself singing the Skol song. It’s a natural instinct. Some things are just triggered.”
His 10 years there were his most productive, as he racked up 11,747 yards, 97 touchdowns, seven Pro Bowls, and a league MVP honor, making it natural that the bond runs so deep.

It was a great moment. The applause went on for quite some time and it felt good to stand up and give the man his due. Personally, I loved it.

That is really funny about the Skol song. I'm glad most Viking fans were able to separate the good from the bad and recognize just what a huge part he played for us. I was watching clips of Purple Jesus the other day and was reminded just how special he was.

We Viking fans are pretty lucky to have seen two of the greatest offensive weapons of all time in Moss and Peterson. Maybe one day we'll be talking about Cook that way.

Personally, I'm happy to see him climb up and pass some of these running backs for total yardage.  He missed nearly two seasons of football, and he's still 6th all-time.   To me he's always going to be a Viking.
He actually did well in pass protection, and catching passes, what's up with that?  He wouldn't even fumble, and lord knows he owes us a few.  B)

AD had a nice game last night; good for him.

That was such an awesome moment. He deserved it. He did a lot of good things for the team and community. Sometimes it takes time for people to be able to look back at all the great memories. I think he recognizes how truly great he had it here now.

speaking of all-time rushing; I was and still am floored to see Frank Gore sitting about 100 yards away from Barry Sanders at 3! I can think back to when I couldn't even imagine anybody BUT Peterson breaking these records...

Lets stand and cheer a child abuser on national television then pat ourselves on the back for it.

Or virtue signal on a message board and do the same. Adrian was a great viking player.  Not the greatest of men, but who can stand up in the light that they do?  I applaud his abilities on the field.
