So what in the Wide World of Sports is going on with Diggs?
@"Ralphie" said:NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the Vikings are adamant that Stefon Diggs isn't available for a trade, barring some massive deal.
Rapsheet noted that Diggs' frustration with the organization has been palpable. The Vikings' stud WR seemingly skipped practice on Wednesday, as he was listed as a DNP for non-injury reasons. Diggs averaged 9.9 targets per game in 2018, but that mark has dipped to just 4.8 through four weeks. 55 (!!!) WRs have more targets than Diggs this season. The Vikings' pass offense is set up about as well as possible for a rebound this week against a Giants defense that has allowed 8.2 net yards per pass attempt this season. Only the Dolphins (9.7) have been worse.Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter.Oct 3, 2019, 10:23 AM ET
"Barring some massive deal." So then he is available. Send him, Reiff and Waynes to Washington for Trent Williams, Terry McClaurin and a 1st. In the 1st, draft a QB and a guard. In the 2nd draft a WR. Boom.
Everyone is available at the right price...
I like Diggs a lot as a player. I'd hate to see him go - too much pressure on Thielen.
I'm not convinced we have another WR on the roster that can beat 1:1 coverage besides our 2 starters.

I hope this gets sorted out with the Vikings because I don't think a team will give up a first straight up for Diggs, even though to me he's worth that. And even if a team would pay that price, then we don't have a replacement for him at all.
Such a smart offensive strategy going forward: we have two of the best WR in the league... let's grab a mediocre QB and craft a game plan that underutilizes them and becomes one dimensional so we rely on the RBs. Then, when the awesome WRs get upset, let's shit talk them as fans.
There's a reason there have been two feuds from both Thielend/Cousins and Diggs/. This team is wasting both of their talents. And wasting our season as fans.

I posted earlier this week that if we fans looked at Thielen and Diggs stats season-to-date we'd probably be shocked...
I'm too lazy to look it up and its still early.
But it sure seems like there has been passing opportunities to win games and keep players happy - that aren't being called by the staff and/or executed by the QB.
It's a shit show on offense right now - with the exception of the magnificent Dalvin Cook. What's frustrating is that Dalvin should actually be helping the passing game - immensely.
It would be one thing if Thielen had 50 targets to something like 12 for Diggs. Right now they're at 22 and 19 though so neither one of them is getting much opportunity and it's even. How about working within the offense and the QB/WR room to remedy that rather than sulking, IF that's what he's doing of course.
Do people know what the numbers were last season after 4 games? Thielen had 40 catches on 56 targets / Diggs had 27 catches on 44 targets. They combined for six 100 yard receiving games. He didn't seem too upset at that time so maybe it's simply frustration with the passing game as a whole and not completely personal. If that's the case though, again, work on it rather than avoid.
Currently listening to local Bay Area sports radio 95.7 the Game (San Francisco), and they are about to have John Clayton on the air - and the big question is if the Vikings will trade Diggs to the Niners - Ill keep you posted on what he says.

I won't beat it any further than it's already been all week, but of all the problems - the play calling, the OL, and Cousins - the biggest sinner is Cousins. I can't wait to see how fans will react next time he comes out and has another atrocious game.It was 10 months ago that all he had to do was be just above mediocre in a home finale and we'd have gotten to watch a playoff game. That left a bad taste in my mouth and it's been there since.

Two of the biggest factors in determining trade value is age and contract. IMO, Trent Williams is probably worth a 3rd. McClaurin, a good looking 3rd round draft pick from last year, could probably draw a 2nd considering he's playing well above his draft slot. Diggs' contract works against him, but his age and talent work for him. I'd say a low 1st. Same with Waynes, but he's not the superstar that Diggs is. So I'd say a 3rd or 4th. Reiff is just a salary dump and is worth literally nothing in this deal but we couldn't keep him with Williams.Anyway, I'm just having fun. Who knows what the cap math would be. And this is about as likely as me waking up tomorrow with Alicia Vikander in my bed.

The D was putrid that last game vs Chicago @ home....I just dont trust this team as a whole in big game situations. So many moving parts, makes the head spin.
Well, that was a big nothing burger. But there saying he's not putting the team first, and its only been four games. That Niners shouldn't want a disgruntled player etc.
He's at practice today:

Yes, but why is he looking down? He looks upset to me. Clearly that guy in the middle is trying to talk him out of going to the airport.
Stefon Diggs returns to Vikings, saying 'There's truth to all rumors'"If you want to win and you're not winning, of course you're going to be frustrated," he said.
Stefon Diggs returned to the Vikings' practice facility on Thursday, saying he missed Wednesday's practice because of a cold.
Sources said the veteran receiver skipped the team's Monday meetings after the Vikings' 16-6 loss to the Bears on Sunday. Tuesday was a players' day off, and the team said he missed Wednesday's practice for noninjury related reasons.
"There's truth to all rumors," said Diggs, who was said to be disenchanted with the organization and requesting a trade.
He said he plans to practice Thursday and play Sunday in New York against the Giants "if they let me."
Diggs said he "loves it here," but when asked if he wants to be traded, but did not say yes or no. He believes he "has a role" in the Vikings offense, "But if you want to win and you're not winning, of course you're going to be frustrated."
"I've had conversations with everybody at this point. Everybody," Diggs said. When asked if he was being heard, he replied, "I don't know at this point. With where things are going with the trend we're at now, I'm not 100 percent sure. ... I've always been a team guy; put the team before myself."
When questioned as to whether his agent, Adisa Bakari, asked for a trade, Diggs said: "I haven't spoke to him about it. You've got to talk to him."
Diggs met with the media for about six minutes, at one point saying, "I'm saying a lot to say nothing.''
Diggs' frustration is believed to stem from his role in an offense that has seen its production ebb since a hot start that catapulted both Diggs and Adam Thielen to 100-catch seasons in 2018. In the seven games Kevin Stefanski replaced John DeFilippo as the team's offensive coordinator last December, Diggs has just 27 catches for 315 yards, while Thielen has 23 for 316. Quarterback Kirk Cousins has thrown for more than 250 yards in a game just three times in the team's last 13 games, and has yet to do so this season.
Diggs was the only player not present during the Vikings' first week of organized team activities in May. He is in the first season of a five-year, $72 million extension the team gave him last July; the Vikings reworked Thielen's deal in April to pay him $64.8 million over four years, putting his average annual salary ahead of Diggs' deal.
Under the contract Diggs signed last year, he's in line to trigger a $666,667 escalator clause for 2021, as well as a $750,000 escalator for 2022 and an $800,000 escalator for 2023, each time he surpasses either 100 catches or 1,375 yards from 2018-20. He posted 102 catches last year, but at the moment, with Diggs sitting at 13 catches and 209 yards through four games while playing for a run-heavy team, the chances of reaching those escalators appear remote.
The Vikings are not due to pay the final $5 million of Diggs' $15 million signing bonus until next March 15, and Diggs has $10.9 million in 2020 base salary guarantees tied to him being on the roster on March 20.

He's getting $72M for the next 5 years STFU. You're not getting a better contract. Cash your checks or you might turn out like Antonio Brown and go from $90M or whatever it was to $150k.

Yeah! Take your money and STFU! Who cares about winning, you punk!
I can understand how he is disgruntled but really can't let players make the call when they want to move on while under contract. Certainly not coming across as a team first guy to me... I think he is a talented player but his miscues have hurt the team (fumbles and stupid penalties). Perhaps he should worry about cleaning up his own act first before going the diva route. JMO.
One note on this-
In 2019 I think it's pretty safe to say where there's smoke, there's fire on rumors like this. Rapaport, Schefty, etc are so tuned in with teams now that they've earned the benefit of the doubt. This, coupled with the fact that star players are watching what's happening in the NBA and are deciding to test their own leverages to demand trades, means we will be seeing this happen more and more. As fans it sucks when it happens to our team, but the default response to rumors like this should probably not be "much ado about nothing". Recent history around the league has shown that when these rumors start, something is likely going on.
Whether he gets traded or not (I hope not!), Diggs is definitely unhappy and probably is very open to a trade.
Another concern is that this type of request usually happens over 1. Money or 2. The team sucking. And Diggs' isn't looking for more money...
Winning cures all...
I love Diggs, but he needs to learn some better coping skills than this.
Last year he had a record year... and we missed the playoffs. He's had his share of drops this year (that would've extended drives and allowed our offense more opportunities to put points up)... and at least one BIG fumble. So... it's not like he is without blame. That being said, I haven't seen as many of the short crossing routes that we've seen in the past (for him). Although they weren't always big gains, it did get the ball in his hands more... and give us a high percentage chance of moving the chains. That's on KS.
