Vikings bringing back Laquon Treadwell to replace injured Chad Beebe
The Vikings will re-sign wide receiver Laquon Treadwell to replace an injured Chad Beebe, a source said Tuesday.  Beebe suffered an ankle injury in Sunday’s 34-14 win over the Oakland Raiders. A source said an MRI revealed he has torn ligaments, and it is uncertain how long he will be out.  Treadwell rejoins the Vikings after being waived on Aug. 31. He underachieved after being taken with the No. 23 pick in the 2016 NFL draft, and had just 56 catches in his first three seasons.  However, Treadwell knows the system and could fit right back in with the Vikings, who are short at wide receiver. The only other healthy receivers on the roster are starters Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs and rookie Bisi Johnson.  Treadwell is expected to be in uniform for Sunday’s game at Chicago. He is a native of Crete, Ill., a Chicago suburb.

Yeah, isn't this like bringing in a guy that was kind of on "paid leave"? Does it even make any impact on the Vikings' payroll - or what Treadwell receives?

Could this also be about Special Teams? Didn't Treadwell play on both kick coverage units?

yes and he actually looked pretty good at it as well.  now that his agent has seen little to no interest around the league and the egos are checked,  if Treadwell can contribute solidly on special teams and find a nitch role in the offense.. why not keep him around on the cheap?

of course preseason mean nothing, but he actually looked decent this year IMO.   no illusions of him challenging for serious PT with the starting O,  but that can be said about 70% of the receivers in the league,   doesnt mean they cant be useful though.

People need to get over their hard on with him being a disappointment and look at him as a guy filling a role until a better prospect comes along.  we are actually pretty fortunate that we didnt have to burn additional cap on a guy that wont contribute much anyway.

I agree. And one thing he is quite good at is blocking. He can contribute on offense occasionally and perhaps special teams. I doubt he gets much playing time though.

If he's even active on game day...

It is. I've heard a couple people say that the Vikings probably couldn't get a receiver like Jordan Matthews to play special teams.

I'm no Treadwell fan, but I think this is a solid move when you factor everything in.

‘Super geeked’ to be back with Vikings, Laquon Treadwell basically is playing for freeLaquon Treadwell is essentially playing for the Vikings for free now.
When the 24-year-old receiver was waived Aug. 31 by Minnesota, he left with $1.15 million guaranteed on his $1.8 million contract for 2019. He re-signed with the Vikings on Tuesday on a prorated one-year, $720,000 contract.
Treadwell had offset language in his previous contract, meaning he doesn’t get anything extra with his new deal and it will be a salary-cap credit for the Vikings next season. Treadwell could have earned the same $1.15 million this season by sitting out, but he never considered that.

That was me...why else would be be here other than knowing the offense? ST play? Aldrick Robinson was available and way more productive.

If this was such a solid move, why was he ever cut in the first place? Its necessity bred from desperation. Beebe and Doctson are out for awhile, enter a familiar yet useless entity in Treadwell. The rest of the league must agree as he went unsigned elsewhere.

Apparently a Lot of useless names out there as free agents right now.  Just that this one doesnt cost the team a dime to come in and fill a role,  and as said he is already familiar with everything so for a 2 or 3 week guy to fill in...I dont see a better option once all the facts are laid out.

If that would happen, your new avatar is....

I second that...

Jimmy would have that Avatar for as long as Treadie is on the active roster

Nah,  my avatar is what it is.  I cheered for the guy to turn into something because it would help my team,  I didn't mention him once when he was gone and only really like the move due to the fact that outside our 1 and 2 receivers the rest are just fillers so there was no point wasting half a million or more on cap that would roll over to next years cap on a player that really wont contribute much.

Treadwell is working for free,  if there was a better option available I would love to hear who.

I just made the comment on exploding heads because of the apparent enjoyment so many have shown from his failures they wouldn't know how to react if he actually did something they couldn't crow about.

Love his work ethic.  Z called him a good kid, who knows he may contribute something to our team, for free

That would equal his career high for any type of TD, so my head might not explode, but it might relieve the migranes he has given us all...

The price is right anyway

This. I'd be happy if the ball boy caught the game winning TD for Minnesota tomorrow, its not like I'm rooting against Treadwell. But the next time he does anything worthwhile will be the first time. A guy can hope, right?  :p
