OT: Silicon Valley Star Swings
https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/silicon-valley-star-thomas-middleditch-says-swinging-saved-his-marriage-its-part-of-me-203336123.html
For those of you who don't know this guy, he stars in shows like Silicon Valley (which I love) and was in the new Godzilla movie. I really don't care what people do or what married people agree to do. Its 100% their business. I know people swing. My wife and I have been approached once on this before in the past, which is a hilarious story (for another time). Not our scene at all. But that doesn't mean it can't be a part of other people's scenes. I don't care.
BUT.....how do married people do this and survive? This guy, Tom Middleditch, seems like the last dude in the world that would do this. But if you read the article, he's not only into it, but has strong feelings about it. And it seems his wife didn't find out about this until AFTER they were married. I don't know, the story just struck me as odd in the sense that he's kind of outing this kind of relationship and it doesn't seem like he asked his wife prior. I guess I can't comprehend how I would ever get my mind around doing this. It isn't about finding other people attractive, that happens almost on a daily basis to most people. That is a harmless byproduct of being human. This is much different and I guess why get married in the first place? What is the commitment you are involved in if you aren't being monogamous in a marriage? It seems like you'll hear about these two getting divorced in under a year and a half.
Anyway, I just found this so oddly interesting over coffee this morning because this guy plays SUCH a nerd on Silicon Valley. Don't judge a book, I guess.
Looking at him and looking at his wife....he better hope his money and fame never run out.
I agree with Sticky, if you say "I do" it means you wont. Also if he didnt clear this with his wife prior to, that's not swinging that's cheating. Oh well.

Psst: a little secret about swingers....they generally en masse aren't the most attractive people you'll meet. This isn't Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie approaching you and your spouse, its usually Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman.
I'm not gonna judge, but here are my two cents: some couples can pull off the "swinging" thing, but both have to be on the same page with it. And that's a very difficult thing to do. If you're looking at swinging as something that will "save your marriage," it's probably not a good idea--you have other relationship issues to address first. Every couple has their own rules about what works for their marriage. Bringing this into after getting married was not helpful. She was sold a bill of goods and that changed. Open and honest communication is key but it seems like he lied to her for a while. Also putting it out there when she is more private is not a good idea either. I don't know if they are on the same page. That's huge. If not, it won't be pretty.

He seemed almost arrogantly defiant about it.

LOL, middleditchs wife is plenty attractive, but he is certainly getting by on his 5 minutes and a little extra cash. and its pretty unlikely anybody is going to be approaching me and my better half, I am with AV, I am not sharing and the one dumbass that made a suggestion to that effect got thrown damn near through a bar wall. It's Lifestyle...Not swinging anymore you old fools.

@"JimmyinSD" said:STDs are up because of Viagra and other performance enhancers. Tons of sex going on in over 55 communities in Florida. TONS. They are seeing increases of
I gave up swinging when I was seven. Was fun for a while but after a while seemed repetitive.
What he said about it all put me off 100x more than the act of swinging. I clicked it like, "wow, how?!"
I left like, "oh. sounds like shit good luck dude."
Simply asking your spouse if it's ok for you to sleep with other people isn't quite the same as having your spouse approve it and justify some bullshit rhetoric about it in fear of losing a marriage. I dunno... He says at times that he 'has to be careful about what he says,' yet, i'm supposed to believe this entire article will settle well with her? LOL!
(i'm not there. i'm not them. i'm just shooting between the lines)
