Linval's take on the game
You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it. — Robin Williams
now lets see if the captain can use this growth as a motivational tool to make sure they dont start slow again. really no excuses for any part of the team to come out that flat to start a divisional game.
I mean....its true what he's saying. But from a visceral fan aspect, its a damn gut punch. aTypical Vikings kind of loss.

One of the most frustrating games I've watched, and I've seen almost all of the Vikings games, since day one. To climb back in it, only to screw up, when the win is all but in your hands is maddening. I was pissed off about it and that rarely happens to me anymore when it comes to a Viking loss. But I'm over it now and realize they should be 2-0. They are a good team. I expect them to do well if they remain healthy, and the players don't lose faith in Cousins. Need to roll over Oakland and spank the Bears and they will be on their way.

However the real sink or swim game comes in 2 weeks in Chicago... imo after the packer debacle there will be no moral victories coming out of soldier with anything less than a W.@"StickyBun" said: I mean....its true what he's saying. He’s not Bud effing Grant, but he’s up there with Denny if not ahead already.
That said, I’m scrutinizing the hell out of Cousins right now, and if he doesnt become a difference maker for us this year in a couple big games, I will be ready to move on and Speilly should be on a win or quit basis in 2020.

Bottom line, Linval : You and your team LOST.
I didn't hear you bitching about winning a "half" when your team miraculously won against the Saints a couple years ago....remember? When the Saints OWNED you and your team mates in the second half? And you only WON because of a literal once-in-a-lifetime mid-field Hail Mary play? Ring any bells? (or maybe you can't remember, after the ass-whooping you took the following week in a Championship game)
Also : A "comeback" means a WIN after falling behind. What happened against the Packers last Sunday was an "almost" comeback, AKA a LOSS. Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, big fella. You and your team LOST.

Why should this year be any different?
Win your home games, go .500 on the road - that should be enough to win the division.
Losing that game was on brand for the Vikings. Winning it would have been a serious and concrete reason for true optimism because it would have been so out-of-character for this franchise.
I still think the Vikings are a good team, but no way they'll be great with Cousins. That is obvious to me now.
