While he's a good player, it feels weird for the Steelers to be trading away a 1 when Roethlisberger will be out for the season. This could very easily end up being a high first.

Not only that, but might they not be in need for another QB next season and beyond???

Odd move for an organization that usually doesn't F-up.

I mean, why wouldn't trade your 1st when your soon to be 38 year old QB had a season ending injury?

The timing is interesting for sure now that Big Ben is out but I'm actually impressed the Steelers made this move.
1. He's a good player on a good contract.2. It tells the locker room we're the Steelers, we aren't tanking.3. They must have faith that Rudolph is good, and that Big Ben won't retire.
And most importantly, I'm happy as a viewer of the NFL. I don't want to see the NFL become the NBA where 8 teams are tanking every year. I understand that tanking can make sense, but it should be a last resort. Good for Pittsburgh.

Some organizations have EARNED the right to make "possibly questionable" moves.....some have NOT earned that right.

Pittsburgh, although I am no fan of theirs, IS one of those teams that have actually earned it with TANGIBLE results, not woulda-coulda-shouda's. Tomlin had his coaching beginnings in the secondary (and maybe even his college playing career), if I recall correctly. Sound familiar? But, he's had ACTUAL success.....no revisionist history required.

Minnesota, and their bizarrely CB/S obsessed HC, Zimmer? Not so much.

We'll see how this pans out....Fitzpatrick was highly rated coming out of college as I recall (that's the repetitive excuse I hear for the Kahlil pick, at least). I also recall that, despite the ridiculous number of Alabama players that have been drafted the last several Saban years in the "money" rounds (1-3), not many have translated their college performance to the NFL. Again, we'll see based on actual performance, not what COULD have been

I personally think this "imma gonna gets me offa this team" trend will ultimately backfire on the players. If I owned a business, I'd be damned if I let my employees bully me when they are in the top 25% of salary earners (and in many cases, in the top 10%) in the country. But that's just me.  We'll see if the BILLIONAIRES allow the people that THEY employ dictate to THEM how they spend their money. History is on the side of the people that actually make the money in order to create and fund the product, but maybe this new era of "woke"" will prevail. I doubt it, but anything is possible in this incredibly, ridiculously liberal/socialist era.

Incredibly dumb by the Steelers.  They must be deluded that they're good or something.  They missed the playoffs last year with Big Rapist.  Without him that's a top-10 pick for sure they're tossing to Miami (who has the Texans' first as well).
