How long before the NFL removes the new PI challenge rules?

This has been as bad as I could have imagined it working out when they got cute last winter and added this. I am ready to eliminate all replay and let the game be played. If the NFL can throw flags from NEW York and take away TD's (i did not know that was possible till yesterday) it opens up a whole new crooked road that screams of fixing.

Good question. They said they will review at the end of the year but in the meantime they will continue to screw over multiple teams.

I just think when you start reviewing a something that is essentially a judgement call it is going to get messy. Dungy had a good take on it last night. I hope they do the right thing and get rid of it before the season is done. I am really missing the days of NO replay at all.

They’re going to do the same thing they did last year.  They’re not going to undo the rules, they’re
going to play 4-6 games, and after enough backlash, they’re going to “reduce
the emphasis” on the rules to only be the most egregious.

They’re just never going to be able to make a non-subjective
pass interference rule.  You just need
all the refs to call it consistently.
And somehow our refs were just way more ticky tacky / biased than
anything we’ve seen so far.

The NFL stated that they did not anticipate the OPI calls would be a problem as they were meant to cover the egregious calls, like the Super Bowl non-call.

Offensive Pass Interference Call Leaves Both Vikings and Packers Confused

https://www.si.com/nfl/2019/09/15/vikings-pass-interference-call-stefon-diggs-touchdown-dalvin-cook

When Diggs finally found the end zone in the third quarter, he ripped off his helmet, screamed (it didn’t take a skilled lip reader to get an idea of the profanity he shouted) and paced the endzone, visibly unleashing his frustration from the earlier calls. That earned him a flag for unsportsmanlike conduct, adding 30 yards to the extra point attempt, making it a 49-yard PAT, which Vikings kicker Dan Bailey missed. (There’s another missed point in the game.)

“You saw how the game was going on,” Diggs said. “I ain’t saying no names, but I feel like the people wearing black and white, you know? You saw how it was going. I had the early situation with the PI and then at the end of the half. Y’all saw what happened.”

Yes, reviewing calls from NFL central is bad enough, but to throw a flag and take a TD off the board just looks soooo bad.  Suddenly practically every scoring play, every turnover, every challenge now needs to be reviewed for not only the TD, turnover or play in question, but everything else that happened during that play as well.  If subjective PI calls are reviewable, why not holding.  Riveron is gonna need more screens and manpower.

Why is a non-call on a regular OL hold not just as egregious as a OPI?  Then every play, for every player....offense and defense....should be reviewed in case the on-field refs missed it.  You know....for fairness sake.
