Freezer-aisle favorite Heggie’s Pizza is coming to U.S. Bank Stadium for the 2019 Minnesota Vikings season.
Milaca-based Heggie’s will be the pizza supplier for the Vikings’ home stadium this year, the team announced this week as it unveiled a slate of new and returning food vendors. The Vikings open the season at U.S. Bank Stadium Sept. 8 in a matchup with the Atlanta Falcons, the first of eight regular-season home games.
Aramark (NYSE: ARMK) runs the concessions at U.S. Bank Stadium, and this year the Philadelphia-based company is partnering with five local brands in addition to Heggie’s to feed the game-day crowds. They include Arepa Bite Latin Food of Mounds View; Bloomington Chinese restaurant David Fong’s; Heritage Tea House of St. Paul; St. Michael-based No Name; and O’Cheeze, the Twin Cities food truck with a restaurant inside St. Paul’s Keg and Case West 7th Market.
A few of the most popular returning vendors will be getting additional locations inside U.S. Bank Stadium this year, including Rusty Taco, Market Bar-B-Que, Andrew Zimmern’s Canteen and Lil’ Mini Donuts.
New menu items this season include vegan Buffalo Jack Sliders made with jackfruit, available at Be Graceful in sections 124 and 139. Be Graceful’s menu also includes nut-free, egg-free and sesame-free ice cream a la mode, a Greek salad wrap and a chickpea “tuna” salad that is actually vegetarian (no tuna) and potentially vegan (if you hold the cheese).
Breakfast and Lunch Nachos and a Bourbon Bacon Jam Hot Dog will be served at Delta Vikings Village outside of the stadium before kickoff. And in section 118, North Star/MN Favorites has added a walleye sandwich, fish and chips, tater tot hot dish and the 4th Street Pork Belly Skewer

To be flippant, I like plant based meat as well.  2nd hand plants are delicious. As to accessing grass fed beef, it is out there, but more expensive and less convenient.  As was stated above, cost and convenience rules the day.  And at a stadium, convenience takes over.
all my beef is fed plants,  closest thing you will catch me eating that is considered veggie burger.

I cant say for everywhere,  but the farm to table craze doesnt have to end at a farmer market.  there are beef growers in about every state in the nation and we are pretty much all willing to sell a  whole, half or quarter beef,  people just need to plan ahead a little if they want better quality beef.  Find a rancher in your area that feeds the way you want them fed ( ask them,  they will tell you) and approach him/her.   Mine are all raised to about 1000# on pasture (grass) with a daily ration of ground corn,  and then they go on a corn finisher with free choice grain and hay.

Yup.  I'm all about the middle-man.  Cows eat plants.  I eat cows.  Simple! ;)

I have a brother that is a butcher. His shop has the grass fed beef. It is definitely the best. And it's true that you may pay a little more but it's worth it quality-wise.

Ok this was a very cool thing that happened at the game yesterday. So we went to the Be Graceful cafe. My son and I were checking out the menu. One of the people working asked the chef to come out and answer questions. She was super nice. My son got the Buffalo sliders and I got the Greek salad wrap. It was really good.

Ha!

You probably wouldn't like Cafe Gratitude either...It's one of our faves when visiting our kid in LA. The LA scene has Vegan places that are pretty damn good believe it or not.

And get ready for the avalanche of vegan, plant based product about to hit your store shelves:

Im from the old school and am convinced that alot of todays health issues are do to with preservatives in todays processed foods. Vegan food may have less calories but hey are still full of preservatives.  Give me a steak or a burger any day.

I carry a cross and holy water made from meat packaging around vegetable places.  The only thing better than the taste of meat is imagining it putting up a fight before you get it in your craw.

I'd buy beef from Jimmy but he's a long ways from Idaho!  I typically buy conventionally reared beef and eat it with satisfied smile!  No Fake meat for me!  Interesting that meat has an ideal amino acid profile and more closely matches the amino acid requirements of humans.  Plants have lower quality protein (fewer required amino acids than beef or other meat).  Meat for the win in taste and good nutrition!

I get plants have dietary benefits.  Then eat them.  Don't doctor them with additives and process the heck out of them to make it look like something it's clearly not.  Sheesh...in an era where just the mention of processed foods gets eye rolls and sneers from health nuts, creating fake meat products is highly hypocritical.  You want a hamburger?  For Odin's sake, eat one.  And add lettuce, pickles and tomato while you're at it.

I don't get the making vegetables to look like meat thing.  I worked for a Seventh Day Adventist and they had non meat meatballs, summer sausage and meat patties.  Learned to love a fried egg sandwich.  Never under stood it as they raised cattle and when not on the farm ate steaks and burgers.

7th day adventist are known as group in society with the best overall long term health.  the two other groups, similar profile very little meat (local), predominantly plant based

That is not true, there are a number of plants such as soybeans, quinoa, buckwheat and kamut that are complete proteins and have all of the essential amino acids.  In addition, you do not need to get all of your amino acids in one meal and can get them throughout the day.  Fortunately, the myth that you need meat sources for protein has been proved false and everyone can choose the source that best suits their health needs and values.

Not sure why anyone would care if there are plant based protein products for people like this or not. Just don't eat it, right? Its a huge market and lots of people are into this stuff. Its not for me, but I get that we live in a big ol' world and some want to try and either be: healthier or don't like meat.

One thing: do yourself a favor. Limit your red meat intake. It is definitely not good for you. Moderation, just like anything else.

so that 12oz ribeye and fried egg breakfast that I just had is likely not on your recommended list?   B)

That menu actually doesn't look too bad...  interestingly enough, I'm not against vegetarian meals.  My wife and I actually substitute veggies for a lot of things that call for pasta or carbs.  For example, we make lasagna with slices of egg plant and other veggies to "simulate" lasagna noodles, we'll make mashed cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes, use hummus for sandwich spreads and dip, etc.

I just don't get the fake meat thing...  it seems hypocritical to me to want to eat something that needs to be processed to taste like meat...  because you are against eating meat (for health reasons, anti-hunting, etc.).  But if it makes people happy, keep eating it.  I won't judge you.  Just don't judge me when I'm eating a juicy burger or steak.

:-D

fake meat or meat like looking products are great transition items but not the core (like meat) of a healthy diet.  as someone who has been plant based since Favre signed up, its about opening people’s eyes to what plants can taste like.

more plants in your diet is no doubt a healthier plan. Healthier plan. healthier people.  healthier health care system (#1 killer of americans is heart disease). lower cost. lower emissions. lower water pollution. lower land usage

win win for all if you can make fake meat the transitional item

I eat just about everything except olives. I like options. Some options I might not like. I like to eat. More things to eat? Cool.

Yep. Not sure why people who enjoy meat would care about why others might want options like plant-based proteins. Its a big world out there with different views on food and there's zero doubt its healthier. I love meat but I've tried some nut-based dips and they are surprisingly good (I'm a dairy freak, but actively trying to eat less of it). The Impossible Whopper at Burger King is pretty damn decent, its not a veggie burger like some think. That's a different thing and gross as hell.

Trust me, I love meat, carbs, the whole thing but I get to try a lot of new foods and trends thanks to my wife's job and they have come light years farther than even just 10 years ago. Some of this stuff is really decent.
