So...what do we think of the cuts—who will be added to the PS?
I was surprised by a lot of the cuts, and some of those who made the 53 surprised me as well. I don’t think Blasingame, Sloter or Vedvik make it to the PS. i sincerely hope they do because I think they represent a lot more potential that some who were kept on the 53. I think Blasingame has more potential the Ham, Sloter much more than Mannion and Vedvik (like Carlson before him) was never really given a. chance. I know, I know, his 2 preseason games were pretty awful but how much experience does he have? How many holders did he have? How many games has he played in?
i realize the coaches know more than me—DUH! and hope their decisions are proven right. But from where I’m standing— some of those decisions seem curious.
I think Sloter makes the PS easily. The coaches made it clear he's not ready, other coaches listen to that (and ignore Vikings poster who fall in love with 3rd string QB's).
I am interested to see what the Vikings do at WR. I get moving on from Treadwell and Zylstra, but our depth is paper thin right now, so I'd expect something to change there. I'm not a huge fan of keeping only 2 QBs, since I just don't have confidence in Mannion. I'm a bit surprised that Abdullah made the roster. I get that our returner options are bad, but as a runner, I'm not sure that I'd want him active over Boone. I kind of wonder if Brandon Dillon is a guy they are going to try to move the PS after they add someone at WR or another need. I like that Mata'afa and Odenigbo made the roster. I'm a bit sad that Gedeon is still on the roster, since he's like a late career Greenway without the instincts. I was hoping that Downs would make the roster, since he's the closest thing we have a backup for Barr. Our CB depth is a mess right now. I wonder if they'll try to use Kearse in place of a 4th CB?
The Vedvik situation was weird. I think there is something wrong about how Zimmer/the Vikings manager kickers, since we've had several kickers fold as soon as they join the Vikings. We got rid of Priefer, which I think was part of the problem, but there still seems to be fundamental problems with how they treat/manage kickers.
I'm not surprised that Rashod Hill is still on the roster, more like perplexed!
I'm a little surprised Boyd stuck, but realize we are a man down at corner and Boyd has some versatility.
For the most part there are no big surprises.
I think it is just awesome that we gave up a 5th round for a kicker that didn't make the team.
We better kick ass this season because we look like complete fuck sticks.

Not the first time, and as long term fans, we have the Hershel Walker trade and zero Lombardi crap to live down.
So yes, we could stand to do well.

I need to be reminded again that we shouldn't question the wisdom of those running the team...because you know they get paid and we are just dumb fans.

Kinda like last year with the Oline?I am just a dumb fan, but , I don't recall late last minute roster moves (like this) working out in the regular season.

LOL....from a guy that was sure the vikings were making a huge mistake not keeping Sloter.....and then no teams claim him on waivers, the only QB that was claimed was Deshon fricking Kiser. Looks like 31 other teams greed with our team over all the "dumb fans" that were pimping Sloter.
Even dumb fans should now be realizing that 2 playoff wins since 2005, the most anemic postseason shit-storm stretch of 14 years in the Vikings entire HISTORY (that is since 1961, boys and girls), is totally unacceptable.
Fans need to stop focusing on stupid little minutiae like the 3rd QB, or if a punter/kicker with ZERO NFL experience makes the practice squad. Who gives a rat's ass!!?? Seriously, does any rational-minded fan think that Vedvik or Sloter were keys to a SB Championship THIS season? Are you fucking kidding me? We've been told that the Vikings have had one of, if not THE most talented roster in the league for 3 fucking seasons! The 2019 season is all that matters now, NOT 2020 or 2021.
This is the genius of Dick....and his old, wrinkly protege Mick seems to have learned well during these past several playoff-pathetic seasons : FIND THE SCAPEGOATS. Deflect blame from yourselves at ALL COST. ALWAYS talk about NEXT season....refuse to dwell on or even ACKNOWLEDGE the mediocrity and under-performance of the recent past. IT NEVER HAPPENED. Just think about what we're doing for NEXT year! :o
Keep changing QB's. Keep changing HC's. Keep changing OC's, DC's, STC's, assistants and advisors. Keep publicly shaming kickers and punters. Keep pissing away 1st round (and then some) draft picks on WR's. Keep using the crutch of injuries to "excuse" your teams' mediocrity on the field. But the decades long grace period is officially OVER......the bill now needs to be paid. Or, to put it in ol' Crusty Mickey's parlance : "Show us the BABY that you've been laboring over for 13 fucking YEARS!"
I hope Vikings fans are finally over their "patience" with this current regime. Effort and good intentions don't mean a fucking thing in professional sports, or in ANY venue in the real world, outside of pre-school and kindergarten, of course.
If this 2019 Vikings squad can't manage a minimum of TWO playoff wins this season, the Dick and Mick show needs to be cancelled. Thus far, the results and ratings have been almost identical to the "Chilly Show", and fans were clamoring for that program to be shit-canned. THIS time around the producer and director BOTH need to be sent packing....there's a limit to how many times a YouTube video of the Minneapolis Miracle can counter-act a Philly Phuckfest, or a Buffalo Blowout, Bear Beatdown, Patriot Paddling, or any number of Patented Primetime Kirk-Jobs.
Hey Dicky and Micky : Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock....

Hey Dicky and Micky : Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock....
Well said. Just one correction.. you know we have a defensive maestro so we can't change any staff on that side of the ball despite the said defense failing to show up when it matters most. The last time the defense showed up for a meaingful game was the playoff game against Seattle and we still lost. Oh it was Walsh's fault.
GMs make mistakes.....but not nearly as many as fans do. Regardless, the team looks silly big time here with this kicker/punting fiasco. How about the poor rookie kicker on the PS? lol, he's got to realize he's now cursed. =)

You show me where I said that...come on, back up your claims or Stfu. All I have said is that he had shown enough to deserve a bigger opportunity, no claims of his future success, or other. So knock off with the strawman arguements or go crawl back under the rock you've been living under as they arent clever. Maybe that shit still played well on PT or where ever you called home, but not here.
"All I have said is that he had shown enough to deserve a bigger opportunity"
And that was based on his play against 3rd and 4th string. I at least gathered all the information and understood that he just wasn't ready for stiffer competition. 31 coaches and GM agreed with me. Maybe you should use more information when evaluating players. The game may be more fun for you.

He kicked 3rd and 4th string ass....what is the next in progression? Come on, you can do it, oh wait, you cant, because the team brain trust has told you how to think. I guess you also think the 5rh for vedvik and then cutting him 20 days later was a good move as well.
If you cant think for yourself and go blindly with whatever the team tells you to think then Why are you on a fan site? If you arent open to others perspectives when they fly in the face of what PA tells you what can you possibly gain from being here?
The next progression is to be able to handle the game plan in practice and understand the game plan in the meeting room. Sloter wasn't catching on, so he wasn't given the next step. If he would have shown some progression, he would have been given a shot.
QB in the NFL is so much more than success against 3rd and 4th stringers that also got cut. These players as a team unit (both offense and defense), must play a vanilla package, as they aren't getting the tougher more NFL realistic game plans. So they shine in the vanilla defense. Then, if they can start progressing in practice and the meeting room, then may get a shot, if not, the team moves on from them.
Other GM's may see the upsides in some of those cuts, some it will take some time or injuries before they get their next opportunity. I hope that Sloter eventually gets his. He was a fun preseason player to watch.

3rd string QB dont get shit for chances in practice with the actual offense, thats been the Sloters main complaint about how Kyle was handled. why Mannion was handed those reps without Kyle getting a chance first. There should have been a competition but there wasnt. Kyle looked better when it counted to the fans, and thats why we wanted to see him get a better opportunity which starts in practice with additional reps to work on those things that he was apparently weak on.
And the coaches and other team staff told everyone who would listen why he wasn't getting the chances, but you chose to ignore that. There is much more to be a QB than what fans see.
