This was his great uncle, his mom's uncle. I'm researching the family tree trying to figure out how we are related. I have the same last name as Kirk's mom

Get a lawyer, in fact I know a guy, for a %,  I'll give you his name,  he's a specialist.

Get a lawyer, in fact I know a guy, for a %,  I'll give you his name,  he's a specialist. 
I went as far back as great, great, great grandpas. I can't figure out where his is from but he and all descendants lived their lives in Fort Dodge Iowa area. My great, great, great grandpa and his descendants lived most of their life in south central Illinois.

If we are related, it has to be further back than late 1800s

Good enough, I think my guy can get some of Kirk's stuff from that.  We got this, PM me with bank account numbers we can deposit the proceeds, got some excess offshore royalty inheritances we can put there.
