Bailey was the most accurate kicker in the NFL and still cut by the Cowboys. Then came here and was less so. NFL teams don't value kickers yet they need them desperately as they can win/lose games. Its a strange dynamic...
Dan has had a great NFL career (emphasis on the "had"). Kickers get replaced all the time. His accuracy was OK but the distance has dropped. No excuses trying to improve a critical position.

Throw in the Bears as another team with kicker issues. They never should have let Robbie Gould go - they would have gone onto the NFC Champ. Game. Great kickers are turning out to be a nightmare to find.

Great kickers are turning out to be a nightmare to find.I think part of the reason that Vedvik nugget went from rumor to trade so quickly is because the Bears were hot after him, too. We just heard about our interest a couple hours before the trade, but the Bears had been tossing around kicker ideas (including Vedvik) all offseason.
