Brandon Scherff
Have heard from about the best source possible that he wants out of Washington and would prefer to play for Minnesota or Kansas City. Would sign with either for less money if he were to become a free agent after this season.
Probably is going to get tagged next year, though. Would be awesome if Spielman put the feelers out to the Redskins about a trade.
Make Cousins part of any trade for him, now that would be epic. Not that I want it to happen, it would just be funny.

But they simply aren't going to give him away, he's a great player.
Being from IA I have to think his choice of teams is related to a desire to be close to family. Not that he would come cheap, but it might limit his value somewhat and make him easier to keep long term. I think the same for Reiff, if he has a bounce back year I would like to see him kept where he is and our line would be set. I doubt the team spends what it would take for Scherff.

Would be worth the money, especially if it came with a discount.
Wonder if the Skins need a corner. Starting OL in '20: 1st round LT - Elflein - Bradbury - Scherff - O'Neal. Not at bad.

Tristan Wirfs is currently besting Scherff's lifting records at just 20-years-old. Would love to see them both in Purple eventually.
I'm sure Geoff hasn't gotten too far into the 2020 and 2021 prospects, but would be interested in hearing his opinion on both Wirfs and Alaric Jackson.Bruce Feldman (The Athletic) recently published an article on the biggest "Freaks" in college football. Iowa fans all expected to see A.J. Epenesa on the list, but instead it was Wirfs... at #1 overall.
1. Tristan Wirfs, Iowa, offensive tackle
Last year, the Hawkeyes had one of the biggest freaks in college
football in tight end Noah Fant. This year they have the biggest, most
powerful Freak of them all. The 6-5, 320-pound Wirfs smashed Brandon
Scherff’s (Freaks Class of 2014) school record in the power clean by
pumping out four reps at 450 pounds. And keep in mind Wirfs only turned
20 in January. As colleague Scott Dochterman pointed out in this excellent piece
on Wirfs’ Herculean effort, Scherff was entering his fifth year in the
Iowa program. Two seasons ago, in 2017, Wirfs became the first true
freshman to start at tackle in Kirk Ferentz’s Iowa tenure.
The former state champion wrestler also vertical jumped 35 inches this
offseason, which would be the second-highest jump by an O-lineman at the
NFL Scouting Combine in the past seven years. On top of that, earlier
this week, Wirfs set a personal record in the broad jump, going 9-5
feet.Given that athleticism and the program he's coming from, I'm sure a lot of NFL teams will be interested.

11. Daniel Faalele, Minnesota, offensive tackle
The humongous sophomore from Australia comes it at 6-9, 400 pounds.
He has 275 pounds of lean mass, which is more lean mass than most
football players weigh — including most of the guys he’s tasked with
blocking. Faalele bench pressed 391 pounds this offseason. He hang
cleans 375 and squats 570, but it’s his movement at that size that
is eye-opening stuff. He vertical jumps 29 inches, who for someone 300
pounds would be really good. For someone 400 pounds … well, we’ll get to
that in a minute. He broad jumped 8-7. Same deal as it relates to what
an athletic 300-pound NFL prospect would do.
For more context, consider this: Faalale’s vertical jump would have
tied for 14th best among the 57 offensive linemen at the 2019 NFL
Scouting Combine.
Now consider this: Dontari Poe was one of the all-time Combine freaks
after he ran a 4.98 40 while weighing in at 346 pounds. He vertical
jumped 29.5 inches and broad jumped 8-9. Faalele is more than 50 pounds
heavier, and his vertical is just a half-inch less and he’s two inches
behind on the broad jump. Trent Brown, who just signed a $66 million
contract with the Raiders after starting at left tackle for the Super
Bowl-winning Patriots, trimmed down to 355 on his 6-8 1/2 frame for the
Combine had a 28-inch vertical and did 8-10 in the broad.
I'm much more interested in Trent Williams if the Redskins are having a (dumpster) fire sale. A great RG is very nice to have, but an All-Pro LT is priceless.
I also think the trade cost for Scherff will be much higher.

but is Williams asking to be traded, and if he is, is Minny 1A or 1B on his places he would like to go? Thats the kicker here, they have a highly talented player that is requesting a trade to Minny.... how many times has that ever happened in any sport?

Both just juniors. Jackson (LT) is probably more polished at this point, but Wirfs (RT) has the big upside. I've seen both kicked around in the media as potential first round picks in 2020 if they come out. It does look like a deep OT class on a lot of these initial "rankings". Both could end up staying in school, but the trend seems to be leave when your health allows if you are projected in the first few rounds.
I would be interested in Geoff's take on both.

Why is a trade of Williams unrealistic - or, less realistic than imagining a trade for Scherff? Scherff is in camp practicing for Washington and they have him under contract for 2019; someone alleged that an unnamed source says he wants to get out and likes Vikings or Chiefs. Williams is already holding out, demanding a trade, and has a friendship with Cousins.
I know any trade speculation has low odds, but I don't see Williams as obviously less likely than Scherff.
