Oh great you had to make me all weepy.
I have a step daughter. Her real father was no father at all and died young from his poor choices. Advice from someone who's been there. It starts out a thankless job. If you work at it, it will be a blessing. 
I have a motto. There are no step dads. Only dads who stepped up.
