Deron Smith got a 2-year deal. So maybe more than just a camp body.

Now it will probably be a 6th or 7th or Priority UDFA added to the competition instead of a 4th or 5th.

And if Minnesota can keep either Harris or Kearse you now have a lot of competition for the last 2 spots on the roster.

This is the way smart teams continously add depth. Bad teams just constantly throw money at aging vets instead of mining youth for affordable  and hopefully productive nuggets.

I definitely like the hype around the safety Smith. Has a rookie kind of vibe - success outside of this league doesn't mean much; you gotta prove it.

When we sign a guy that is called "the best defender in the league," i'll happily sit back and see what happens.
