Saints message board
Man, I'm loving this.

One poster talks about since the 09 season, the Saints have been cursed. San Fran, Minnesota and now the non-call.
I'm sitting at my desk at work, literally giggling out loud while reading some of these posts.
I was pissed off the whole game yesterday, thinking back to 09. Fox coverage talked about that year all game long and never once mentioned the suspension that followed (if they did, I didn't hear it).
Poetic Justice.
Mrs. Benson, owner of the Aint's, issued a letter to the NFL stating she wants the rules changed:
"Sunday’s result is still difficult to accept for all of us. I am thoroughly disappointed by the events that led to the outcome of yesterday’s game. Getting to the Super Bowl is incredibly difficult to do and takes such an unbelievable commitment from a team and support from its fans. No team should ever be denied the opportunity to reach the title game (or simply win a game) based on the actions, or inactions, of those charged with creating a fair and equitable playing field. As is clear to all who watched the game, it is undeniable that our team and fans were unfairly deprived of that opportunity yesterday. I have been in touch with the NFL regarding yesterday’s events and will aggressively pursue changes in NFL policies to ensure no team and fan base is ever put in a similar position again. It is a disservice to our coaches, players, employees and, most importantly, the fans who make our game possible. The NFL must always commit to providing the most basic of expectations- fairness and integrity."
So does this include video taping each offensive line player on every play? Because a hold on a completed 3rd down play that doesn't get called may have caused a drive to continue, resulting in a score later. Or a push off on a WR that doesn't get called (they rarely do) on a play resulting in a first down? Because we all want to be fair, dontcha know.
And why limit it to playoff games? "Unfairness" may have resulted in a win that allowed a team to get home field advantage in the playoffs instead of traveling. Or they may have even made the playoffs over another team. That's unfair, isn't it???
Folks, being a Viking fan has enabled me to see the "fairness" argument from many angles. So to Aint's fans everywhere, I have two words of consolation for y'all....
DREW. PEARSON.
Been reading some more.
Am I a really bad person for enjoying this so much?
And I thought I wasn't going to enjoy the playoffs without the Vikings.

It may be Schadenfreude, but Bears lose on double doink, eagles lose a game then should have won, and then the cherry is the Saints losing and thinking it is all the refs fault.

Satirically I would love to add that she wants to these penalties imposed retroactively going all the way back to 2010...
Just like no one really outside of bitter Minnesota fans think Bounty Gate was real.
REALLY!! The NO's fans don't think it was real. If not, why did the NFL impose season long penalties?

This
LMAO
Bountygate was worse because they had to suffer the injustice of being accused of cheating? That their superbowl win was somehow tainted? Try the other shoe.IMO, Bountygate was worse. 2018 is the second best season ever. 2018 will be remembered as a good season with a terrible ending, but it’s nothing compared to Bountygate, avoiding ESPN the entire offseason, and the 2012 season without Payton.
The Bountygate situation in that NFCCG in 2009 was something that the Vikings could have corrected and ended immediately.
The first time a defensive lineman put a cheap shot on Favre, the two biggest dudes on the field, McKinnie & Loadholt (and the rest of the OL) should have pummeled the defender. Yeah they would have gotten the 15 yard penalty but the refs would then been more aware because they would not want the game to get out of control.
Also, they should have high lowed any defensive lineman the very next play to let them know if they tried anything else their knees would be the targets the rest of the game. Defensive linemen are funny about their knees and do not like to get hit in them.
I watched Favre get hit and saw those linemen just standing around. You think Art Shell, Gene Upshaw, Conrad Dobler, Mick Tinglehoff, etc. would have just stood around watching their QB get up? Heck no!
I never complain about Bountygate because I blame the Vikings offensive line for letting that crap go unchecked.
But I am old school.

I'm with you 100% but I will add the Viking defense also.
If someone took out Drew Brees' knee, it would have been a level playing field.
I've really tried to not enjoy an injury to any player (maybe T.O.) but I couldn't believe that no Viking player (offense or defense) enacted payback.
I'm more pissed at the Vikings and the refs than the Saints. If you can get away with it and win a Super Bowl, do it. Just don't whine when the shoe's on the other foot.

Ok so now I'm confused???
Which is it everbody did it or it never happened???
Bountygate is a new word for a reason. You got caught...haha.

I guess the thing that I put on the coaching staff as well as players was, they did the same thing to Kurt Warner the week before. They beat the crap out of him. It was the only way they could beat a veteran QB. They had to see it on tape and be watching for it.
@"JimmyinSD" said:But none of that would assume cheap shots; it just means that we need to hold our blocks a little longer so that our QB isn't being hit as he releases the ball (as opposed to 2 seconds after he released the ball- as was the case in 2009). In other words, unless someone specifically told the OL that Favre was on the ground because the Saints were taking late cheap shots at him, how would they know that it was happening? All they'd know is that they didn't do their jobs well enough. Unless someone told them differently- which I'm not sure anyone did. When I played, I couldn't have told you what was happening behind me- because my focus was on the guy(s) in front of me. Only once did a coach tell me that the defense was doing something they shouldn't have been doing... and that I should do something about it. For what it's worth, I did.@"pumpf" said:I dont know how they couldnt have known. somebody had to have seen him picking his ass up every other pass attempt, and the coaches sure as hell should have been on the lines ass to stay with their blocks well past the whistle.@"JimmyinSD" said:I do, too.
