I think Rudolph is less likely to return than Morgan.

Could I have been more wrong about Treadwell? Nope.

And yet many here are saying the FO should be fired if they don't take an O-Lineman in the 1st.

Have you failed to learn the lesson of picking for need only?

I know people consider him as taking a roster spot but no one is beating down the door to take it from him. There’s an opportunity for a young guy to take his spot from him but he’ll have to give the team a “have to keep him” reason. Chad Beebe gave them a strong reason to keep him last year and someone vying for Treadwell’s spot will need to be a big guy with similar performance.
I am not sure that others have been given a fair opportunity to take his spot.  I do not believe they are having a true competition for that 3rd WR spot. Nevertheless, they might be able to trade him to another team.  If they can trade him then they would save 1.804 mil in cap space and only have to eat 1.356 of his cap hit in dead money. A trade is far fetched for sure.  But maybe they can send him out with a 7th round pick to get back a 6th round pick from some other team.  Is that asking for too much? Maybe they have to send him out plus a 6th just to get back a 7th? Regardless, just because his 3.161 mil cap hit is already on the books next year should not ensure him a roster spot.  The Browns traded Corey Coleman to the Bills last year for a 2020 7th and had to eat his remaining cap hits.

Exactly, it has never been a fair competition because of his draft status, which is complete bullshit in my book.  Wright was much better than Treadwell, but played around half the number of snaps and was let go.  This year, a WR signed off the street (Robinson) produced much better numbers than LT, but also barely saw the field because of Treadwell.

I would also argue that Beebe showed a lot more during the preseason than Treadwell has, as have quite a few other WRs over the years.  Yet LT keeps getting trotted out onto the field to drop passes and run incorrect routes, even during his 3rd NFL season.  He has Matt Kalil syndrome IMO, meaning he basically has zero interest in the game of football yet keeps playing for the paycheck.

I am a big Zimmer supporter, but if they keep Treadwell on the roster this year, my support for Zimmer and Spielman will basically be over.  You don't win with Laquon Treadwells taking up space on your roster, especially when they are taking up spots on the actual playing field.  You cut your losses and move forward.  Ideally they would have realized he sucked much sooner and would have traded him when they could have gotten a decent return for him.  But that's something the Patriots would have done, not the Vikings.

Wait a minute - I'm ready to fire the GM and HC regardless of what they do next draft...
Re the pick of Treadwell, you are right about forcing a need. But it's not as if all the WRs were gone in that draft. And everyone calls out Mike Thomas, but either Tyler Boyd or even Sterling Shepard would be AMAZING complements  to Thielen and Diggs. Vikings needed a WR, 4 of the top ones remained, and they got the only dud of those 4.
The real lesson: Spielman can't pick players, at least not offensive players. He's the Bizarro Denny Green.
