Bye McCarthy

But every announcer I have heard is lauding McCarthy and saying he is definitely going to be snapped up by another team as a HC next season.
And the same people all say Rodgers is a HOF QB, maybe the best currently playing, and that coaching him will be so attractive to any candidate.
How can both be true? If Rodgers makes the job easy, and McCarthy is a great coach, why don't they have the last 5 Lombardis sitting in their trophy case?
One or the other is not as good as their reputation. Maybe both.

I would expect a new OL coach, likely with heavy control over the running game, a new special teams coach, and maybe they could look to change out Edwards to bring some flesh ideas on defense. Zimmer is still an elite defensive mind, but it has definitely felt like something is missing this year. I think teams have been copying a lot of what we've done well, so offenses are more used to seeing those looks now, then you have offenses like the Rams and Chiefs who spread things out, use a ton of misdirection, and force defenses to play very disciplined, which we've struggled with at times. Missing the playoffs is a very real possibility this season, but I think it's more a matter of tweaking things and not blowing things up. I'd also add that we are starting to see returns on developmental players like Weatherly and Harris, so they are starting to develop meaningful talent, which is a big deal as the cap becomes more of an issue. We've also had some guys like Rhodes have uncharacteristic bad years. Hard to say what the cause is there, but it doesn't help things.

I was hoping McCarthy would get another year.  I really liked watching how in sync he and Rodgers were.

I have a twisted fantasy where he comes in here as a special assistant and teaches our offensive lineman whatever the hell they've been getting away with in Green Bay all these years...
