Bill Belichick on Mike Zimmer: "I think Mike's one of the best coaches in the league, no question about it. He's done a great job with that program. He's been one of the great coaches in the league for a couple decades."
Goes against what some here would have us believe.  I don't think Bill is one for fake praise, so there it is.

and some more

Belichick said that the Patriots always try to watch what the Vikings do
to give them ideas to implement in their own system and to learn from
the way they do things defensively. The Patriots coach also noted why
there's such a small margin for error when playing Minnesota. "If you
make a mistake, they do a great job of taking advantage of it."

I like it, but I don't think it's much more than lip service.  BB has an ego.. His praise of competition is simply to leave them no locker room material.

Could be.  But from the limited amount I see of Bill, he usually just doesn't say much.

True.. I just tend to dis-believe any praise that guy gives. He's a very clever coach.. Knows what to say to get the most of his players.. Knows what to say to get people to drop their guard a bit.. And just knows how to coach. Most people hate him.. I like him. or.... dislike him.. but would love him if he coached the Vikes..

I believe Bill 100%.  Why not? Zimmer has been coaching a long long time and Bill has to respect that about him. Plus, the Vikings do actually have a pretty dang good defense and have had it since pretty much when Zimmer arrived. I would not think it is abnormal for other teams to look at what the Vikings are doing and see if they could steal some stuff. Just like teams might look at the Rams or Chiefs and try to steal some stuff for their offense. I think the bias people have toward Bill clouds their judgment. I believe he respects Zimmer a ton!

Haha nice, either but since this was about Zimmer that's the Mike that applies.

So is he complementing him as a long time defensive coordinator or as a head coach? Bill could be setting the table for if Mike gets fired in the next couple years. That guy does nothing without a reason.

I have actually read a few good interviews that Bill has done.  Obviously very smart and has great respect for some coaches.  He doesn't like the inanity of most media sessions so he comes across as rude and uncaring.  But I do think he is giving an honest opinion here.

I believe both actually. He can have respect for him but he could still be messing with him. They are both near each other in age so it would make sense that they could see each other as kindred spirits and have things in common.

or maybe he is setting the table for when Brady retires and he wants to take a step down and join Mike over here on the newest dynasty team in the league?   B)

honestly I dont see Mike sticking with the game after his time in Minny is finished when ever that may be.  I think he loves the coaching part of the job,  but has probably had enough of dealing with the media and the front office shit.

Yeah just being sarcastic. Mike will retire as a Viking I believe or at least be his last NFL job. He would have no reason or desire I believe to DC only again.

I didn't actually follow that link, but Bill frequently flatters his upcoming opponents.

I wouldn't read too much into it.

best way to beat an opponent is take their edge off before the battle.

Did not know that.  I don't get ESPN so my Patriot exposure is limited.
