Is this a sign that Roc Thomas is potentially going on IR?

oops, didn't see SFVIKEFAN comment on Roc Thomas, didn't mean to repeat
Interesting. Oh what the hell? Let's see what happens.

I think we are all, thinkingmthe same thing. Thomas must be more injured than we thought. And doing this now gives Abdullah a few more days to study the playbook.
Read on another board that Roc Thomas was waived. Was he the one getting his butt chewed in the NO game? or the game before?
Since he's injured he might....I don't see this as an upgrade.
Isn’t Adullah known to be a bit of a fumbler? Oh well, he probably won’t be on the field all too much. Hopefully it works out.
2nd round pick and the future star in Detroit to depth chart filler. The NFL life doesn't coddle. I don't expect much from him.
@"StickyBun" said: I prefer Mike Boone over Roc Thomas anyway.Thomas was better in space, but Boone, who is obviously much more physical, seems to be the better all around back. I think both have a future in the NFL. Not sure what's going on with Roc's injury, but I hope he finds himself back on our practice squad.
As far as Abdullah goes, I'm sure it's just a depth signing to cover whatever happened with Thomas. I suppose it's possible the Vikings saw an opportunity to upgrade Thomas, but it's hard to say. AA's got some talent. Been hurt a LOT. Looks like his best game as a pro was against us last year when he rushed for 94 yards and a TD on 20 carries.
When a former high draft pick gets cut, teams who were interested in him back in his draft sometimes give him one last shot. So my hunch is Spielman, Zimmer, and/or DeFilippo were impressed with Abdullah in 2015 and thinks that if he could stay healthy and/or get into the right scheme, he might do better. His workout numbers were impressive at the combine - aside from his 40, very similar to Jerrick McKinnon. Spielman likes great athletes, so he probably wants to see if any of that potential is still around.

He was a very hyped player when he was drafted. The Cardinals were really high on him and were upset when the Lions drafted him out from under them and they had to settle for David Johnson.

Better to be lucky than good...
He was a stud in college. Not so much in the NFL due to injuries and playing on a team that doesn't run the ball much. He has had pretty good numbers as a kick returner, so maybe they brought him in for that and RB depth.
