David Diehl: Raiders Gave JaMarcus Russell Blank Tapes to See If QB Watched Film
The Oakland Raiders took some extreme measures to prove that JaMarcus Russellwasn't doing everything in his power to be a good NFL player.
Appearing on New York's WFAN (h/t Andrew Marchand of the New York Post), former offensive lineman David Diehl said Raiders coaches used to give Russell blank tapes to determine if he was studying film.
Diehl noted Russell would come into the Raiders' facilities the day after receiving the tapes saying that he watched the blitz packages.
Who would have known that Russell wasn't fully dedicated to being an NFL quarterback? His 52.1 completion percentage, 18 touchdowns and 23 interceptions in 31 games turned him into one of the biggest draft busts in NFL history.
If only the Raiders coaches had studied blank tapes instead of Russell's LSU tape, they might have opted to go with Calvin Johnson, Joe Thomas, Patrick Willis or Darrelle Revis with the No. 1 pick in that same draft class.

Yep, zero work ethic and not the smartest....and this was known by NFL scouts. Yet the Raiders pulled the trigger. Calvin Johnson was right there for the taking and he was a unanimous uber-talented WR that everyone agreed would be great.

Fat a dumb is no way to go through NFL life son. He definitely Flounder(ed) for some reason.
Maybe he was recording Granny's Buffet commercials over the blank tapes.
True story....
A few years back, department chairs were supposed to write up a monthly summary of assessment information, Standards met, etc. Took a tremendous amount of time.
Finally I just had to know if these were being read, so I wrote into the report:
"You're not reading these reports, are you? This is just another hoop that teachers have to jump through to justify Administrators jobs....(on and on) for a couple more sentences...
turned it in....
Nothing.
Guess I was right.
Once in a while we still laugh about it...anytime something more is tossed on teachers' plates from Admin.
