Everson Griffen to Resume Team Activities Wednesday, October 24

We have been in communication with Everson’s medical professionals throughout this process and have relied on his recommendations regarding the appropriate next steps for Everson. We are excited to welcome Everson back to the Vikings and to see him around teammates, coaches, and staff - people who care deeply about his well-being. Our focus will continue to be on providing an on-going support system for Everson and his family.

Statement from Everson:

"Being around my teammates and coaches is something I have missed for several weeks. While this is an exciting and positive move forward for me, it is only the next step in a longer process. I look forward to once again putting in the work with the guys and contributing to this team in any way I can. My larger focus remains on addressing my personal health, and I’m hopeful the time will come when I feel comfortable sharing my story and using my platform to bring awareness to these issues. I continue to be extremely grateful for the constant support from my family, my teammates, the Vikings organization and our tremendous fans."

Needs to start getting back to a normal routine. He can open up to his teammates as well. That will help him too. Wonder how long before he's ready to suit up?

Huge. Getting back the best player on D. From a talent aspect and from an uplift for the team's morale, it couldn't come at a better time. His teammates love him.

It's great to hear that he is ready to return to the team. I'm also impressed with how well this situation has been handled. It will be good for Everson to get back into a normal routine and it will be interesting whenever he is ready to talk about his issues.

I wonder too.  If he has three good days of practice, I wonder if he'd get some snaps as soon as Sunday night.

This is fantastic news for the team.  Hope Griff has a better handle on all of this moving forward.

It would be awesome if he could get some snaps against the Saints, but even just being back with the team is a huge step for him. I hope he can manage things better going forward too, but that will be a big challenge and the Vikings and his family will need to have a plan in place if things get worse. Very stressful for everyone involved, but I'm happy to see things on track for a positive outcome.

I don't see why he couldn't start right away. Players that are hurt aren't practicing for a few weeks then come back and practice a week and play. I am sure he is still in shape.

The nature of it is this will be a long term recovery. Possibly a lifetime. Mental health is not like mending broken bones or a surgery. Recovery time can vary and there's always a possibility of a relapse. Returning to a normal routine is just step one. Testing ones ability to deal with the stresses of the normal routine is step two.

The word is that Griffen has a decent shot at being active this Sunday night against the Saints.

I suspect EG has been battling these demons for sometime and it's probably a lifelong battle or something that will need to be controlled the rest of his days.

Whatever it is, certainly wish him and his young family the very best. Hopefully EG lives a long and happy life -- gets to see grand babies.
