NFL is trade crazy
What, out of 32 teams you can't find ANY who might want these players who aren't the very teams standing between us and a Super Bowl? Et tu Burley? You push the knife in even further by using our own former franchise QB to improve the Saints? Surely we can find a player for the Rams, too.

1. @KyleBrandt : Le'Veon Bell to GB for Ty Montgomery and a 2nd.
2. @heykayadams : Larry Fitzgerald to the Saints
3. @Nate13Burleson : Calais Campbell to Saints for Teddy Bridgewater & a 2nd.
4. @PSchrags : Patrick Peterson to Eagles for a 1st.

Those trades would be significant too. Fitz and Saints would help the Saints load some for a playoff push. Not sure I really want to see Bell in GB either.

We are fooling ourselves if we think we are just one player away on defense. To give up that much for Peterson would be silly. Waynes is playing well. If we were just talking a draft pick, then that would be different but to subtract one of our best corners just to land Peterson and to give up those picks on top of that is extreme overpayment.

I dont, this team is cap strapped and will be looking to lose a little cap on the D to add some help to that OL, Peterson is marginally better right now, but is only under contract for 1 more year than Waynes currently is and would cost nearly 3 million more next year than what Waynes currently would, and is due over 13 million the following year. I would rather keep that 2.7 million next year and try and use it to extend Waynes himself or put it towards the OL and let Waynes play out his rookie deal unless somebody offers the Vikes a sweetheart deal of picks or players for him that actually improves the team in an area where it needs to improve like OL, salary cap, or other.

Does it even make sense for the league to continue having
midseason trades? Shouldn’t they have
this all figured out prior to the season starting rather than getting 6-7 games
in. It just seems bad for the league to
have Bell and Peterson constantly whining for a trade midseason and Oakland in
full on tank mode selling off assets.
These trades make the NFL more interesting; they are not bad for the NFL.
Unfortunately, the trades have some of made our rivals better. The Bears traded for Mack just before the season. The Lions just picked up Snacks Harrison to help their run D. The Saints just got a young and talented corner in advance of playing the Vikings. I’m now hoping the trade deadline passes before the Packers do something significant.

Absolutely it does, a trade deadline like this gives teams chances of selling of pieces they don't need.
Jared Allen could have netted us a nice pick a few years back had the deadline been pushed back a few weeks.
the peterson trade is garbage. waynes is playing fine plus is signed into the future. we need the pick for our OL or to replace whoever we dont resign. so no thanks.

What you're going to see is teams that are already kind of out of it are going to start dumping players and salaries for draft picks. Contenders will be able to get guys that can help them for the stretch run. Detroit getting that big NT from the Giants is going to help them a ton.

It definitely could. But teams have tanked it anyway before this new extended trade deadline. Just makes it more obvious. But at the same time, it makes it much more interesting for fans the next year come the Draft as they can be loaded with picks. Which smart contending teams use to trade for known quantities and bottom feeders use to infuse young cheap talent (if they draft well)."Hopped up" super teams work for the NBA, its turned that league around as far as popularity goes. The NFL still has its parity as it looks once again that some teams that made the playoffs last year, won't be getting in this year. The media and the fence sitting fans the NFL craves so much LOVE 'super' teams. Not saying its a good or bad thing.
