Report: Everson Griffen involved in weekend incident at Minneapolis hotel

Ryan Raiche of KSTP-TV reports that Griffen was involved in an incident at a Minneapolis hotel Saturday night. The name of the person verbally threatening to shoot someone was redacted from the police report, but according to Raiche, it was Griffen.
Hotel staff moved into a back office at one point as Griffen paced around the lobby and threatened to assault hotel employees if he wasn’t allowed into his room. No gun was seen, according to police, and Griffen was not arrested.
Minneapolis Police Department spokesman John Elder told Raiche that the man left on his own and the caller no longer is cooperating.

And there you have it. I really hope he gets himself sorted out. That's quite scary actually.
Is Everson Bipolar ? If so hopefully he was just off his meds and he had an episode.

I know he was someone who had some issues when he was younger, but it seemed like he had matured into a team leader and family man. This seems very out of character for him and I glad that the issue did not progress any further. Whatever the issue is, I hope he gets the help that he needs.
What wre the rumors about cocaine in his hotel room? Was there any validity to that? If not this is a story about a guy getting pissed off at hotel staff about something. What is the something that he was pissed off about? Seems like an apology tour is going to happen soon. Unless he actually hurt someone or there are drugs involved this will be a community service issue and likely that's it.
sounds like he went off the deep end. Breaking into teamates house after the hotel thing. His season and most likely career is done, sounds like that is the least of his problems at this point.

More information is starting to come out and after he left the hotel, he tried to break into the home of another player (edit: the Vikings are now claiming that rumor is false). Something is seriously not right here. The good news is that he's safe, no-one else appears to have been hurt, and that he is undergoing a mental health evaluation. It's a very scary and bizarre situation and we may never know the full story here. Hopefully, he's receptive to the help being provided.
Edit: Removed a link, since some of the information is now being disputed as false.
now the team said he didnt try to break into a house. who knows wtf went on
@"Tyr" said:Being bipolar is pretty much a mental health issue. I know a woman who is bipolar, quit taking her meds and she dissapeared. Her father tracked her down in another state. Once she was back on meds she didnt have much recollection of the ordeal.@"Purple Haze" said: Is Everson Bipolar ? If so hopefully he was just off his meds and he had an episode. Griff, come on man, wtf? He's such a leader on this team; especially now that BRob is gone. Hope he gets the help he needs. This might actually help explain why the defense along with the entire team looked like sh!t on Sunday. The team was probably in shock.
Man o' Man...
Dude needs some help, hope he gets it. That's a beautiful young family he needs to be there for.

This is going to get really complicated and it's going to take time for the facts to settle, but we're likely going to get lots of conflicting reports and rumors now. :(
@"Purple Haze" said:It very much is, I was just being general, since he could have another condition and there's a pretty wide range of behavior for bipolar people. I used to work for someone who had severe bipolar II. It was a very dangerous situation, he actually ended up being killed by the police, but there are a lot of people who are bipolar aren't dangerous at all.@"Tyr" said:Being bipolar is pretty much a mental health issue. @"Tyr" said:It is nasty disease, but if treated with the right medication it can be controlled easily. Getting the right medication is the trick though. The woman I mentioned earlier is my wifes best friend. It took years before the doctors got her on medication that worked. Now the trick is to keep her on the medication. Often times bipolar people think they are fine since they havent had an episode for a long period of time and they stop taking their medication. Lets hope Eversons ordeal is as simple as that.@"Purple Haze" said:It very much is, I was just being general, since he could have another condition and there's a pretty wide range of behavior for bipolar people. The mental health portion of the story pre-dates this last weekend so it is unrelated. Secondly apparently the girl that called the cops at the hotel ghosted when the cops got there. She vanished so I am starting to think this is like the people calling the cops on people BBQ-ing while black or resting while black in their dorm lounge.

There are a lot of leaps on this story already without really going off the rails bro. From what I heard was it was a hotel staff person that called the cops but they refuse to cooperate after the issue diffused itself. could be a lot of reasons why they didnt want to push the story that dont involve racial bias.

It happens frequently here in the land of MN Nice. I am not saying that IS it I am just saying I could see it happening. Especially at the Ivy. I know people that lived there.

Its fine, its your personal thought on a message board. But I am so pissed about how this is being handled. I know the team and the cops are legally limited with what they can say to the media and the public, but in this day and age there is no reason why the Vikings and law enforcement cant be pro active and be shooting down this bull shit as soon as it tries to take flight. there was a better way to handle this that wouldnt have led to as big of a mis-story. and we as Vikings fans should know better than to jump on every scrap that hits the twitter machine or what ever crap these "news" creators choose to use.
its bad enough that a good guy and his family is going through what they are with his mental condition, but the rest of the circus is completely unnecessary and people should be ashamed of themselves for feeding into it without doing their background work.
