Rumor that Baker Mayfield may be starting tonight in Cleveland
Not sure if its accurate, but its been gaining some traction all afternoon. Would make for an interesting game considering they go against the Jets and Sam Darnold. I didn't realize that Cleveland was preparing and acting toward Darnold and his group that they were going to take him #1 in the Draft and something changed in the last 4 or 5 days before the Draft and they took Mayfield. Heard that today on The Herd.
Anyhoo, if he does it would be a good reason for me to check out the game later.
My instincts say the nfl started this rumor...To get anyone to watch this dog turd of a game on a Thursday night.
the only good thing about this game is that they did away with the color rush. Can you imagine this game with those unis?
I've got Calloway in my #2 flex...hoping the gamble pass off...might get me to watch until half...

The stats for both quarterbacks was 3/13 for 8 yards at one point. That made me laugh.
I’m happy for the Browns. You couldn’t help but smile watching them celebrate like they had just won the superbowl. And Mayfield played lights out!
And later, Hue channels his inner Les Frazier when asked if Baker will start next week..."we'll have to look at the tape"...
Mayfield came in and gave that team a big spark and jump in energy, you could see it. He's a natural leader and upbeat presence. Yet of course the media is overreacting and the hyperbole is flying, he's going to be up and down. But I don't see how you can go back now, Mayfield is the man moving forward. You can see that there's talent on that Cleveland roster.
The videos on Twitter are hilarious. People in the streets going wild. The hype machine is going to go into overdrive now. Good for Browns fans. That is on enormous monkey off their backs though.

They tied the Steelers in a game where a missed field goal by Gonzalez would've won it. They then went INTO New Orleans and lost by three points in a game they should've won, with Gonzalez missing TWO extra points and TWO field goals. But the narrative will be "oh my, Baker!" Now, Baker played OK and he could very well go on to be league MVP for all I know (or care), but the truth is that the Browns are a much better team this year no matter who's QB. I predicted 8-8 for them before the season and I think they might be even better than that.
