12-team, non-PPR. I have Melvin Gordon, Dalvin Cook, James Conner and Jordan Wilkins. Thinking about offering Dalvin Cook straight up for Leveon Bell. Would you do it?

In my 10 team league, I was offered Bell/Penny for Cook/Mike Thomas.  I said no.
I have Royce Freeman, M. Breida, P. Barber and Kerryon Johnson so couldn't trust the unknown in another rook like Penny and the Seahags OL.  Thomas could have a monster year. Had he offered something to replace Thomas' value, I might have said yes.
In your case. Conner's value disappears if/when the prima donna comes back.  But if he does, Gordon and Bell would be one hell of a duo and Conner a solid handcuff. Wilkins hasn't shown much yet but is the best of what Indy currently has on their healthy roster.
If the owner of Bell is getting itchy, float him an packaged offer with another player.  Use the straight up deal as a final compromise.
Holdouts can't last forever...can they? ;)

Solid advice, thanks! The Bell thing is just a shot in the dark. He could be back next week or week 10 or be traded. The piece of mind of having Bell and Conner would be nice.

And you were right to turn down Bell/Penny for Cook/Thomas. Two guys that aren't starting for two very good guys that are? No thanks. And Thomas could actually lead the league in receiving this year.

only if it were a keeper league, even then its only a maybe, Bell is getting a lot of work and older now, Cook could be almost as good for the next decade

Yeah, my league is a 5 player keeper.  I had Brees-Cook-Thomas-Beckham-Gronk.
If Bell doesn't sign in the next two weeks, the Steelers "window" starts shrinking pretty fast.

You would be way overpaying for Bell given the uncertainty of when he'll report and actually play.  Why give up a valuable asset for a maybe?

If anything, I'd offer up Conner to the Bell owner and maybe you can get a very good player back where you are lacking...

That's the route I would take.

I hear what you're saying, but for me it's not about trading a starter for a maybe, it's about securing the Steelers backfield to go along with Melvin Gordon. Regardless of whether it's Bell or Conner, that back with Gordon could be a nice little upgrade from Cook and Gordon. I also think that Cook's injury and the fact that Murray is a very good change up (and goal line back) could keep Cook's numbers down a little this year. The only thing holding me back is that the Steelers may choose a similar split between Cook and Conner even when Bell comes back. I think I'll wait another week and see what it looks like then. Knowing fantasy, the whole landscape could change completely. :-)

Do you start a flex though? Because if you do then the best case scenario is you can start Gordon/Cook/Conner for the foreseeable future. That with the other players you mentioned you have should be an automatic win every week.
I'd be tempted to ride that out. Bell might not come back until week 10 and at that point you're probably in great shape to make the playoffs, even without Bell. If you don't have a flex then the trade does make some sense to me since you can only start 2 RBs.

That's a great point. Yeah, I can start a back, receiver or tight end in the flex spot. This week I have Gordon, Cook and Conner starting, and in a 12-team league that's pretty unbeatable. Scored 158 points last week and I have better matchups this week.
