Dang.., Brian Robison released.
Pops... you know where I stand.
As far as cutting BRob and keeping Newman and Sherels... what a stupid fucking move. Newman cant cover shit any more and Sherels never could. MS's contributions as a punt returner as easily covered by Hughes and or Hill and or Beebe (another dumb cut IMO, but not to the level of parting ways with Brian)
I could go along with it if I could see how its in the teams best interest, but I dont. Brian was the 3rd best DE on the roster and easily one of the most versatile guys up front. Rick fucked him right in the ass. This would have made a little bit of sense if they had kept Odenigbo... but hes gone as well. Just plain stupid, its moves like this that makes me wonder if they are even trying to win a superbowl over there.
Fucking Stupid.
Best of luck to a classy player, and his dad as a classy poster. A sad day to see a great viking depart. These are never easy, but they are inevitable. If Brob clears waivers, maybe the vikings bring him back at a later date???
Yeah I'm not a fan of this. Not just because of the warm and fuzzies because he seemed like a good dude and Pops posted here and also seemed awesome. I think this is a bad decision from a football standpoint. Guy had at least another year or two left in my opinion. He might not've warranted a starter anymore but I'd have utilized him in some role.
Is there any chance we could bring him back at a reduced price (if no one else signs him)?
Maybe I'm in denial. And BRob certainly didn't need to take any more pay-cuts for the team.
In the end, no matter what happens, he played the game the way it was supposed to be played... and was a "poet warrior" on and off the field. He was a Viking that we could ALWAYS be proud to call our own. And we always will.
I was hoping that we'd get one more season of Brian in purple. He's been an exemplary Viking for the past 11-years and even though things are difficult now, he and Pops will always be part of the Vikings family. I wish him great success in whatever he chooses to do next.

I literally have a memory of being at my COLLEGE bar and the chyron had the Vikings D-line up and I thought "Brian Who?" He was the rookie we'd drafted.
Time flies. I'm sure he'll have a successful career in football after this which is reassuring.
That is heartbreaking. He is one of my favorite players and one of the classiest in the league. I will miss 96Questions this season. I know he’d rather be on his boat hauling in fish, but maybe...just maybe...Vikings Entertainment Network could hire him.
Anyway, thank you, BRob, for all you’ve given us. And thank you, Pops, for raising him right. I’m sorry we didn’t tet a ring together.
Shit. I understand it, but it's still sad. Thanks for everything Brian and Pops.
Doesn't Patterson need a protege? BRob is the kind of guy I'd like to see continue to be associated with this franchise.
Completely blindsided. This sucks.
Dude is all heart
I don't really get the keeping 4 halfbacks on the active roster. I wish B-Rob would take the spot of Roc Thomas. But it is farewell I guess. Today also marks the first day in my life I am older than every Viking player (31 years old). :'(

Crap, just crap. Nothing but great memories of Brian. Reading about his speed and agility when he was drafted. Finding out he was a world class discus thrower, salivating at the spin move and the impact that would have on opposing qb's. Then really being impressed by how he handled the Jared Allen acquisition. As a Viking fan from day one, Brian's contributions on the field, to the organization and as example of a person, he stands out as one of the finest personalities and players to wear purple. Wish i could thank him in person.
I’ll be honest, I’m pretty f’ing pissed. I see no way they can justify keeping some guys over him. He can still play and was great in a rotational role and as a vet leader. It always comes for vets I like but this one got me. Besides being a great player BRob is an outstanding person. When my sister was going through treatment for stage 4 breast and spine cancer she got a big boost to her spirit hearing from BRob, one of her favorite players.
I get its a business and all so it can come down to the dollars besides just talent. I’ll miss watching him set the hook after dropping a QB! At least until we can watch him on his fishing show (he’s got to do it Pops)!
Health took me out of law enforcement early and eventually out of the work force so I get unexpected change pretty well at this point. It’s never fun at first but there’s always a silver lining with the right attitude and he certainly has it. Good luck to him and his family!
Such a sad day, BRob and pops both are going to be missed. BRob will always be a Viking and pops part of our community. Thanks for giving us 11 years of memories and glad I was able to meet you at a tailgate pops.
@"StickyBun" said: Sad day for Pops and Brian too. Sigh. Wasn't completely unexpected, too much young D-line talent to not protect with a roster spot.Yup, it was pretty clear this pre-season. Great career, great Viking!
Edit: Best of luck to you Pops and the family. Live long and prosper...
Stop by the Longship after we win that Lombardi this year.
I'm really disappointed about this. I thought after he took that pay cut, that was his way to stay on the team for one final season.
I'm going to miss seeing him play and watching 96 Questions every Thursday night with my wife. She loved that show, it was something we looked forward to during the week.
I won’t ever forget Brian. What a genuine human being who loves the game and has always given his team his heart. I won’t forget seeing him with tears in his eyes after the Minneaplois Miracle. The game of football is in his soul and he was such a loyal player to this franchise. I understand the roster game but this is shit, truly. Yes, you’re damn right the guy can still play. His leadership will be deeply missed I guarantee that. Much love to Brian and the whole Robison family. Please stay around here with us, Pops. You are a friend to the Vikefans family.
sorry to see him leave----thanks for all the viking memories brob and pops. ope ya both drop by on occasion. Class act as a player and family always, skol bro.
