read the comment by Ryan to this tweet: https://twitter.com/josephperson/status/1031546485253517313

Sorry, can't get the link to the tweet to work, so here is the tweet by Joe Person regarding Matt Kalil: "Panthers LT Matt Kalil, who’s been out past 2 days, dealing w/ a knee issue, per sources.
Not sure when it occurred, but he did miss a day at camp, too."

And here is Ryan's response:

"As negative as Vikings fans can be, they get this one right:
1) Article about Matt is "finally healthy"
2) Plays poorly
3) Injury
4) Repeat"

And as often as Kalil has been doing this, occasionally he will mix up #2 and #3

Spot on.

The Matt Kalil calendar:

Aug.  "for the first time in my career I feel healthy"
Sept. "Matt a dor Kalil"
Oct. "I'm playing through some nagging injuries"
Nov. (better remove your hats before calling him a POS)
Dec.  Another 10 million in the bank...Merry Christmas

Last year had a big twist when he took shots at the Vikings for "never demanding excellence". See? It wasn't HIM... it was the VIKINGS' fault. This year is totally different.

Yeah...He's made a nice career out of a single season.

Yes.  I was wrong about him.  I tend towards the homerish side and stand up for Viking players.  Sometimes to the point of being wrong.  I will say this, he wasn't as bad as many made him out to be.  I remember it being said that Charlie Johnson was better than Kalil.  He was good enough to play, but maddeningly inconsistent.  And yes, always using injury as an excuse.

This discussion kind of reminds me about my post about Fusco and how I and many others made excuses for his poor play after so much promise.  Maybe the hardest thing to judge in the NFL is how someone will pay after being paid.  With Kalil, he was paid well throughout his first contract and his play deteriorated after the first year.  The first year gave just enough hint of promise to keep him through all 5 years.  Fusco, on the other hand, didn't make good money until he signed his second contract tan then his play went downhill.  I think the Zimmer Vikes have done a pretty good job recently judging which players are motivated by money and which are motivated to be great players.

A very good response, greed....I appreciate your honesty. Thumbs up. Not everyone will admit to it.
