I'd consider a 12-4 record and winning the NFCN a big positive in 2018
I'll start with that. I think the Viking's schedule is very difficult. I think you need a little good fortune to go your way to win 12+ games. But Minnesota has the horses and the depth to accomplish this and possibly more. But I feel the team could be more complete and more dangerous in the playoffs even with one less win in the regular season than last year.
I'm pegging them at 12 wins and the team nobody wants a piece of come January in the NFC. Philly won home field advantage with the league's easiest schedule....that won't be the case this season. 12 wins could mean home field advantage this year.
I think it's very doable. Why not? Last year they were looking at a .500 record with backups at QB and RB. Not that Murray was a slouch. Then they ran off a 8 game streak. Some tuff opponents along the way. Hard schedules are only hard if all these teams are what we expect them to be when we play them. Seasons have a way of weakening the hard. You can expect the Patriots to be good. The Eagles too. Unless they get full of themselves. I don't like the east coast, west coast back to back road trips against tough teams. Yeah it looks like the schedule makers screwed us. Still I believe this team has the power to beat anyone. Zim has turned this team around. Just look at his record and places we've won. We are no longer a team that can't win on the road, can't win outside. He's broken down alot of stereotypes around us. So yeah why not. Next one up. Back to back division titles. Thats been elusive to us lately.
We'll win our19th of 19 in '19. We'll be proud of this team in February. Tweet that.

I'm hoping for 10-6 so I guess my bar is quite a bit lower. I still think 10-6 can win the North though.

So we lose no one, upgrade the QB, upgrade the RB, upgrade the 3T...and lose 3 more games because...I'm guessing Nick Easton? A tougher schedule? Certainly possible I guess.
Floor is 10 for me this season...
I'm far more about "the window" the next 3-4 seasons...I want at least one Lombardi over this time.

we farted rainbows a few times last year. we had no injuries. we didnt face Erin in lambblow. im just being realistic. teams always go up and down.

The opposite of optimism is pessimism, not realism. No injuries? Our starting QB was out for the year, our starting RB was out for the year.

are you not a viking fan??? weve been getting kicked in the nuts for decades. lucy has pulled the football out from me way to many times for me to not try to let excitement get the best of me. I think we have one of the most talented rosters out there but as the movie so elequently put it. on any given sunday.

Number one defense last year, and they made it better this year. Huge upgrade at quarterback. Cook coming back. Murray starting the season healthy. The right coach, the right GM, a happy locker room, and the right owner. These are things we haven't had all at the same time before. I am expecting nothing less than 12-4, even with our tough road schedule. I am totally bought in that we will finally see our team deliver.

Yeah, I get the personal "need" to keep one's expectations low. There's some emotional self-preservation in that. And it's rampant among Viking fans. (Probably explains why we never never win it all: there's just so much doubt and defeatism surrounding this team that the universe shifts to prevent it). But it's not a realistic take based on the information in front of us; it's expecting the worst to avoid disappointment.
Which injuries did we avoid last year? Seems we had a few key ones. That didn't derail us. Nothing short of an 2016 injury explosion will stop us. I feel they are ready as anybody in the conference and more ready then anybody in the division. I feel 10-6 would be a failure. Not many years would I say that. Anything less would be a disaster.
Barr said it best: "Win the North, Win a SB"
amen Anthony...
For the last 30 years it's been win the NFC and go to the SB or we failed.

Nah I'm not big on gambling. I don't drink either. Nothing personal. I Just think 12 wins is still realistic considering we had a few big ones last year. The kind that would sink some teams. Still managed an 8 game win streak and 13 wins. I was just pointing that out. Of course an injury plagued year could derail us. I mentioned that yesterday in this very thread.
I've been around long enough to have witnessed every SB fail. I was a teenager and devastated for the last one. I just had faith we would get back. I had no idea then it would be 41 years later and we would still be waiting. I would have been more devastated then. I enjoy a good kicked in the nutz being a Viking fan joke as much as the next guy. I just don't understand why some need to assume it's over before it starts. There are years I know it is but still hope it's not. This year I feel good that it isn't.
12-4 is my prediction. If we do that I will feel better then the effects any case of beer could bring. If we don't, well I'm past being devastated by a game. Disappointed yes.

What's cool going to games now (and I see it especially @ USB) is the new generation (s) of fans. People getting joy from the team, the experience at the best stadium in the NFL, new traditions being born like the Skol chant.
It's all good...

It is all good...and even if it ain't remember it will be ok.
That's grandpa talk there. I mistakenly created a new generation of Viking fan in my grandson and he got his 1st taste after that Philly game.
Valhalla is coming.
