Z was excited about the play of the line. Said they were active and moved Denver's line off the ball. Very happy with the first team O and D.

Pretty much as well as you could want if you're a Viking's coach, with some things to work on and complain about for the depth of the team, too.... as coaches love to do. Not trying to make too much of it but the Viking's offensive line kicked the shit out of Denver. They ran and passed at will. That makeshift line deserves some kudos.

“The Vikings utilized quick passes behind an offensive line that hasn’t had much experience together. Minnesota opened the game with LT Riley Reiff, LG Tom Compton, C Cornelius Edison, RG Danny Isidora and RT Rashod Hill”

Ok. Did you watch the first drive? Or the pass to Diggs to the 2 yard line? He had a pocket with 3 backups on the line. Murray had 2 runs over 20 yards. If you want to denigrate them, go for it. But they played very well considering everything. Its preseason so, as I said, I'm 'not trying to make too much of it'.  :/

I can be as hard on the team as anyone, but I don't get the looking at the negative side of everything that some fans do. Its a moment in time in preseason, we all know it doesn't mean much. But they looked stout, but not perfect of course, last night.

I thought the team played very well.

I really think we upgraded the qb position ... You can see the difference between Cousins and Keenum.  This is going to be a great team.

I'm drinking coffee. My bad if I misinterpreted what your intent was, but was it really a stretch? You basically quoted a part that dismissed why they played well. Now I know you feel differently. Got it.

I was impressed with how well the offensive line moved a stout Denver front 7 off the ball.  Obviously Von Miller didn't play, but Wolfe, Peko, and Chubb are some bad dudes...  and they were put on skates.

Nice to see considering we were starting 3 backups along the interior.  Maybe the sky isn't falling?

Very pleased with both first units.  I had really expected the offense would struggle.

its a stretch to see something negative in there.  For some reason you really seem to be trying.  Exactly what in there is negative?  jfc.   I hardly ever post here anymore.  no fukin wonder.

I really wasnt sure to be honest. Certainly more assured about the D going into PS game #1 then the O for obvious reasons, including a Bronco D with some very good players.

KC showed some nice touch, good downfield accuracy, throwing WR's open. I loved me some Case last year, but I think we just scratched the surface on why they went the Cousins route.

DeFillipo used 5 (!) different personnel groups that first TD drive.

My 2 cents: the OL "scheme" looks to definitely be a zone-blocking scheme.  And it looks like we did a better job at it than the last time we tried it.  On the other hand, the DL wasn't exactly game-planning for us, so they might have taken some chances and missed some lanes that they might- otherwise- not have done.

I was impressed with the OL. Edison got work in camp so that had to help with timing. I noticed Cousins talking quite a bit to the OL during camp and I am talking about all the linemen not just the starters. He must be thrilled to have Diggs, Thielen, Cook, Rudolph, Murray and Treadwell as well as this defense. Even his cadence at the line is commanding. I am quite pleased how the OL responded. The co-offensive line coaches was a good idea. Kudos on the blocking and protection.

I thought the first team was excellent on both sides of the ball.  I realize everything was extremely vanilla but has to give them some confidence going forward that they're OL will be okay.

42 points.  17 points against Denver's starting defense, mostly in the first quarter.  Offensive line did a hell of a job their first time out.

I feel very good after watching the 1st string O&D units. I was also very happy with the depth when it was 1st string and 2nd mixed. Denver didn't make any game out of it till it was mostly waaay backups. I liked what I saw. Just need to keep telling myself it preseason and remember Zims teams seem to put more effort into getting wins in preseason. As previous records show and not all teams do. That said. Yeah alot to like and get excited about Sat. Well oiled seems to be a good description from my view point.

I don't think Zimmer's teams try to win in preseason any more than anyone else.  He pulls the starters pretty quickly.

I actually don't know he does or doesn't. I think I read where he's 15-3 as a coach in pre-season. That would be an impressive .833 winning percentage. Better then any regular season average. My point is it's just that. Pre-season and nobody outside the coaching staff really knows what the goal was. Some coaches think its important to win because the score is being kept. Others might think getting in plays you designed run in game is more important then plays that have higher probability of success in a given situation.  I do like what I saw and feel pretty good. So from this fans perspective even pre-season games are important to look good. Even if meaningless.
