Levy And Griese Are Drunk
Not once did they show the Vikings sideline. Every camera shot was on the Bronco side. They talked like the Broncos were ahead by 3 TDs or something. About the most one-sided commentary I ever heard.
I figured it was a denver broadcast---like the seattle hacks
@"Akvike" said: I figured it was a denver broadcast---like the seattle hacksYes, it was. Hence the heavily slanted coverage for the Broncos.
yes of course it was a Denver TV station. Channel 9 in Denver (I lived in Colorado about a hundred years ago, and went to several games in the Mile-High/Elway era). What do you expect?
I guess I'd expect them to at least know the difference between an XP and a FG...
even given as a home broadcast they were ignorant--late fourth and they're lamenting "I know it's only preseason and we're seeing them working on things with 3rd and 4th stringers but you look at that 42 score and it stings a little." I turned to my daughter and said they forget the 1st and 2nd string gave up 27 in the first half and put up a goose egg in response.

So glad I got to hear Bercich last night on the local Vikings telecast. And suffer through PA in the booth doing the play calling. Didnt have to see the Bronco's sideline more than once or twice and it was all Vikings bench. Always fun to watch the players interact, even with the big lights on em.
Ben Leber does a nice job interviewing players during the game as well. Thank God I'm in the local broadcast area is all I can say.
Ugh. I hate the TV/radio simulcast that the Vikings are doing. I was in the car listening to the game... and it seems like I missed about half of the plays because PA was talking about something else (other than the game action)... or Leber was interviewing someone. That works for TV, with the action going on in the background... not so much for radio.
And, to get back to the original point... I don't think PA talked much about the Broncos, either.

I know it’s preseason, but the broadcast team needs better game awareness. They had a few interviews that went over multiple consecutive plays. Continue the interview, fine, but at least show the game action...
Honestly, preseason football is garbage....both from a broadcasting and viewer point of view. Diehards glean what they can and just like to see the start of football, but its really not good by any stretch.
The best part of that Bronco commentary was when they started crying about the Denver defense giving up 42 points to the Vikings offense which they mentioned was missing 3 starting linemen.

TBH, I was shocked that they even knew this fact. And to their credit, they did mention it several times. They did some homework on the Vikings. Usually, opposing teams preseason local broadcasters don't know shit.
