• Pro Football Focus wrote recently that the Vikings’ Trae Waynes was the NFL’s best cornerback when it came to stopping the run. Waynes stopped 4.7 percent of runs faced, but the four corners who stopped a higher percentage played slot cornerback. “This revelation outlines just how successful , primarily an outside cornerback, was at defending the run in 2017,” PFF wrote.

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

And Waynes plays with some pretty good ends and line backers and safeties. so for him to still get the highest % is pretty remarkable.  Not to mention the amount of time the D is in nickel with that aforementioned slot corner in the way.  Nice job Trae.

He was known to play the run tough at Michigan State also, so its not a huge surprise to me. He's puts his nose in there for sure. Waynes has progressed nicely as a NFL CB.

I thought his draft bio said he was soft against the run.  I could be wrong tho, just was I thought I recalled.

He is a very willing tackler and seems to relish hitting.  Rhodes on the other side is a beast as well.  Built so well and likes to hit.

Yeah, he's got a slight frame but he's stronger than he looks. From a draft bio on him below:

'Drives forward with burst and runs through targets, jarring balls loose. Wrap-up tackler who understands his responsibility against the run.'

it was said on him coming out that he wasnt an eager tackler,  interesting to see stickies find on him because I was remembering the same thing that he wasnt all that jazzed up about sticking his nose in on the tackles.

That is the phrase I remember.  So I was pleasantly surprise when he was better than advertised.

I have been very happy with his development,  I thought peters was the better talent,  but also the bigger risk and Waynes has the quicks to have the higher ceiling so I wasnt bagging to hard when they took him or even when they red shirted him his first season.
