So tell me about your NFL Sundays?
How do you do it? Do you watch all day? Just the Viking's games? Snacks? Alone or with friends?
Personally, I watch Sunday football all day. Always have. I look forward to it and love it. I like other games also that don't include the Vikings, a fan of the NFL in general. Probably watch 70% of the time alone (with wife who will enthusiastically watch the Viking's games, but not the rest) and then 30% either out at a sports bar with friends or home with friends. We live in downtown East Boca Raton so we walk everywhere and its close. Love the NFL Redzone....borderline addicted. Snacks/food for sure (varies) and Bud Light to save a few calories. Always start around 12 noon eastern with a Bloody Mary. Many football mornings I'll take the wife to the beach (only 1.5 miles away from the house) from about 10:00 am to 12 noon eastern as she loves it there and breaks up the day as I'm in for the duration of the day once football starts. Built a new house we moved into 3 months ago and am stoked about the family room/TV area as its #$%^ing sweet for game time.
Will watch at home alone via Sunday ticket. Will tape delay while I make Chili or something else and then miss the pregame and commercials. I try to delay for about 45 minutes and that usually gets me commercial/half time free into the 3rd quarter. After watching the Viking game home alone I might then go out for the other games and meet up with friends. But have to be alone during the Vikings game plus no one wants to be around me anyway :)
I'm cheap I watch at home but I stream. Never bought a Sunday ticket because I only really watch the Vikings. I tune into other games if on but can't say I watch. Unless it the Packers or Cowboys and they're losing. You guys do a game day chat here? I enjoy that. However by streaming I'm sometimes :20 seconds behind which makes it interesting. If I'm a little behind on my...YES!!! you will know why.
i dropped sunday ticket several yrs ago. so i stream. i used to watch other games as well after/before but i do that less snd less.
ussually alone, but if its the packers (wife is a %#€£+%# packer fan) she actullty leaves the house!!! i dont mind it one bit because then i can cuss out the refs in peace and quiet.
Weather permitting I grill some wings starteing about 10:45. not too interested in pregame. usually have about 3 or 4 sauces to shake them in. Delicious. When weather is bad or too cold, baked nachos with pulled pork on them are an alternative game day snack. My son and I are diehards, don’t miss a game. my wife and daughter will watch when home. Rotate the beer for game day, Bells Two-Hearted Ale is a favorite. As for the rest of the day, the games are on but I am usually not locked in. Usually paying enough attention to know whats going on. If the Vikes are not on Sunday, often will make other plans. You know the saying, Happy wife- Happy life.
Game days are my most productive days. I record the game, put on music (loud), crack a beer around game time and then use my nervous energy and excitement (knowing that the Vikings are playing RIGHT NOW!) to get things done around the house. I try to start watching about half way through the game so that I catch up to real time when it ends.
I either watch alone, with my kids or go to the Viking bar in town with friends. But it's a MAD house that requires a reservation a week in advance if you want any hope of sitting down, so you can't do that on a whim. And watching a game in real time with commercials and half time is absolutely torturous.
I pretty much watch football all day Sunday. During the Viking's game, I usually scream my guts out until the neighbors are ready to do a health & welfare check on me.
typical Sunday morning, always set the DVR for the game... if its a church Sunday for me I plan quick lunches... stuff like burgers, brats, wings, shit that I can start on at 10:30 (pours a cold beverage) and have on the table by 1ish when I will sit down and start the game, usually am caught up by the 4th quarter or so. If its a communion Sunday for the Lutherans I skip church, and on those days I am usually looking at longer cooks like brisket, ribs, butts, or other meals that take much more prep time, in which case I get up before dawn, gets smokers going and then will piss around on the boards, watch really early pre game stuff or whatever and then once the suns up I will fart around the ranch or the shop doing little odd projects that need to be done before the snow flies, all the while keeping an eye on the food.
honestly, once the game is over I am typically amped up and like Maroon I get shit done! late season lawn work, what ever (kind of depends on the outcome of the game and amount of beverage I have consumed. once in a while I will watch the 330 game, but usually I run out of steam around 530 or so and wrap up the day and catch the ends of the afternoon games... supper and call it a day.
I have a pretty strong routine... this is why I deplore games that are other than noon starts.
It's my holy day.
I've come here a couple times for advice on Sunday Ticket, wiring, TV mounting, etc. I turned the back end of my living room into a sports bar so I wouldn't have to leave my apartment for these 10am west coast kickoffs. Most mornings it's just the girl and I until noon or so, so it's nice being able to have a front row seat to the coveted "big TV" for the Vikings and then a couple others to watch other games.
Around noon everybody starts to roll in and then we'll start pouring drinks (assuming I haven't already added whiskey to my coffee). If it's nice outside, we'll walk to another bar for later games. Otherwise we'll just hang tight, order in, and be gluttonous pigs all day.
Watch football. Obviously the Vikes and then Red Zone the remainder of the day. If the Vikes aren't on I just watch the Red Zone all day. The wife will rarely even attempt to schedule anything on Sunday's during football season.
Also, unless the Vikes are on I never watch the night games. Never on Sunday, Monday and definitely not Thursday.

If the Vikes are playing the Puke, it'll be on the Fox channel here. Or if the Puke are on bye or a different time/day, the Vikes may be the local game vs. the Lions or Bears. So even dropping the Ticket, I'll still see them 4-6 times per year or more including MNF or TNF.
Paying to see Raiders/Bills games was painful. I'll RedZone the rest of the time to check on my fantasy lineup.

Gave up the Ticket myself last year: don't miss it and I can get the NFL Redzone channel on XFinity. Watching commercials on a regular NFL game, even my beloved Vikings, is like having a root canal for me these days. So many of them its disgusting. I get up and move around the house every commercial break.

thats the one nice thing for you out of market guys, with the extra games that we have now every week (sunday and thursday nights) its a much greater chance for you to see your favorite teams play in another teams home market. really diminishes the value of the sunday ticket IMO.
I watch every and all games....EXCEPT THE VIKINGS. (Them I record)But I watch the scores.
If we jump out to a big lead, I'll tune in.....If we are tight or losing, I won't.
If we win, I turn off whatever game I'm watching immediately and watch the recorded game.If we lose I delete the game. (Won't watch)
I've seen so many ways we've lost important games, I just can't take any more.I'm 52 and overweight...when I try to watch the Vikings my BP shoots to about 450/325
For example: The "minneapolis miracle" Our TV was off...My wife was telling me the score updates.
When Saints went ahead with no time, I started doing something else...then she said "Wait.....Something happened""The Vikings scored...with no time left" I rushed to find the remote, fumbling around for the channel.....got it in time for the replay and went apeshit.
The NFCC? I haven't watched it
Living in SE South Dakota, I get most/all the games on my Sony in the living room. The better half is not a football fan and pretty much just leaves the room/house for the duration! Even then, she can normally figure out the way the game is going by my vocal responses to the game time events/plays! Normally just have food/snacks/beverages all prepared for easy access during the game. Will log into the chat room occasionally just for S&G's...
I will watch other games sometimes depending on the relevance to our favorite teams standings...

I'm so incredibly mad at DTV right now; I would love to kick them to the curb. Ever since AT&T and DTV merged they have overcharged me habitually. And when I think about it, what do I even watch on DTV? Stephen Colbert's monologue. 60 minutes maybe once a month. I used to record all the historical documentaries for bed-time background noise. But I can't even find them anymore. All the documentary channels have gone to reality, which I despise. And I suspect I could find a millennial to teach me how to view the things I like on the Youtube or something. Roku stick is definitely in my plans.
So why am I paying DTV $120 to $150 a month for something that I rarely use? If I could figure out what this "streaming" thing is all about, then I can cut my last connection to them.
I found a good free sports streaming site last season. Can't remember the site name. It's bookmarked on my tablet and lapper. It pretty good quality. I only use it for football. It has all sports unless pay per view. It is delayed sometimes as much as :30 second. Which kinda sucks if you are on a game thread or chat like i said. I'm not home now. I get the link later for you. It's not as good as you expect from DTV but is free. Sometimes you have to try a couple feeds to find the good one. I watch all my documentary stuff on YouTube. I only have the most basic of basic cable. High speed internet. I'm not tech savvy enough to cut the cord totally. People would have to help me do this. I barely watch my tv anymore. I would do It if not for my wife.
No recording for playback that I understand. I know it wouldn't work for everyone.
