Report: Mychal Kendricks may be leaning toward Raiders, Browns
The battle for former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Mychal Kendricks is officially on, and as of Friday, he has now met with the three teams he originally scheduled free-agent visits with.
This list included the Oakland Raiders, Cleveland Browns and Minnesota Vikings. His free agency tour began with a trip to Minnesota to visit with his brother, Eric's current team. He then traveled to Oakland to talk with Jon Gruden and company before heading to his visit with the Browns in the latter part of this week.
With the meetings now seemingly wrapped up, it's decision time for Kendricks, who is reportedly looking to make his final call by the end of the week, according to Jordan Schultz of Yahoo Sports.
While none of the teams have officially been removed from Kendricks' list just yet, John McMullen of 97.3 ESPN revealed that the Vikings seem the "least likely even though his brother is there." As McMullen points out, the reasoning behind that is due to the fact that he would be behind two strong linebackers in a scheme where the third plays just 25 to 30 percent of the snaps.
It's an interesting point and makes a fair amount of sense, as both the Raiders and Browns do have more pressing needs at the position than the Vikings.

The move should allow Jamie Collins to focus more on edge rushing opposite Myles Garrett. Kendricks was released by the Eagles for salary cap reasons, but he is coming off a terrific season as a run defender, and was passable in pass coverage. Kendricks played strong-side linebacker in Philly. He will team with MLB Joe Schobert and WLB Christian Kirksey to round out Cleveland's linebacker unit. Its pretty obvious the market was extremely small for Kendricks and the deal is really meager. I guess I didn't follow him much, but I remember him being considered a very good LB just 2 years ago. What happened? He's only 27 years old.

On Sunday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Kendricks agreed to join the Browns. "No, it’s not accurate," Kendricks told Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "I don’t know who the (bleep) said that. That (bleep) is (bleep)." Yahoo Sports' Jordan Schultz reports Cleveland remains the favorite, but the two sides have yet to reach a deal.

My guess... he wanted to let his family know about his decision before it was announced in the media and it got leaked early. That's about the only reason I could come up with for his reaction.

...or the other teams. Either way, that response was a little unsettling. Can you imagine Eric responding like that? I don't know, maybe there are other reasons for Philly moving on from him.
