OT: Natural Selection Wins Again
This story has so many things that left me shaking my head, I really dont know where to start.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/man-mauled-to-death-while-trying-to-take-selfie-with-a-bear/ar-AAwTRBV?li=BBnbfcL
attempting to take picture with wild bear.
approaching injured wild animal
people videoing the incident instead of trying to help
the need for selfie free zones due to to many people dying while attempting to take a picture of themselves.
did I miss any? seriously how Fd up can this world get. I honestly think cell phones and their use will bring about the end of our species before anything else we are currently worrying about.
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?
Had a ashore here in Montana a couple years ago run into a grizzly on a mountain bike going ruffle 60 miles an hour down the mountain the bear was not amused one minute having a lunch of berry's next getting creamed by a bike short story the wanted to kill bear for mauling and killing said as hole till witness told the rest of the story

i love the stories where wildlife wins. I love yellowstone and other similar areas, and have had my share of WTF moments out there myself, but nothing makes me laugh harder than to see those dipshits that cant follow the simple instructions that are posted everywhere about staying back get their own personal moment with nature.

He's made the list... :(
@"Vikergirl" said: Stupid people suck.and there seems to be getting more of us every year!
To sum up the list (thanks for posting that, Ralphie), people are dying from:
1. Climbing on electric trains and getting electrocuted
2. Trying to take pictures in front of moving trains and getting hit by them
3. Taking selfies too close to the edge of high precipices
Notice that 2 out of the 3 "killers" is trains. Insert "banning trains" joke here...
The biggest problem in the world today (imo) is there are too many warning signs and not enough stupid people being eliminated from the gene pool.

Taking selfies with wild animals comes in 4th. A definite "don't do".

@"Hidalgo" said: The biggest problem in the world today (imo) is there are too many warning signs and not enough stupid people being eliminated from the gene pool.My daughter was about 10 the first time she read a shampoo bottle warning her not to put the shampoo in her eyes or to injest it. That was really the first time I saw the Jim in her. She went on a 5 minute rant about how we do to much to protect the stupid people in th world and that we really should just let stupid people find out on their own and maybe there wouldn't be so many stupid people having stupid kids...it was right then that I knew she shouldn't follow her dreams to be a teacher....of course she is about to become an RN so she sees more than her share of stupid but she gets paid much better now.
Growing up in Montana, I'd see jabrones like this in the Park every year. Mostly with bison and moose (mooses, meese?). Bears are rare, but you see bison and moose everywhere...inevitably with crowds of Nikon-adorned tourists trying to get up close. I would bet the amount of tourists gored by bison and moose is probably 5 times those killed by bears (despite the "giant marauding godless killing machines" label given them by Stephen Colbert).
Going to the dump and watching the bears used to be part of the Canadian family trip. “Seen any bears eh?”. Used to ride on the back of the resorts flat bed to haul out the fish house garbage cans to dump them off. One time we were too slow and bear started to crawl onto the bed of the truck. GO! GO! GO! was yelled into the cab, back window was busted out, cuz,,, Canada, I guess? Driver didn’t even look just took off, Bear took a tumble off the back end... it was pretty funny and a blast until Mom found out... it was last time I got to go with them to dump the fish guts. One of my many bear stories....
Bring it on NS. :p
this thread is scary. i understand the idea but the underlying message is we are encouraging judgement and demeaning others. not good practice as our societal bonds are being ripped away already

Look i understand that clannish behavior is comforting, when we all swill beer around the campfire, slap each other on the back and form a beautiful little circle for whatever may come next ;). but why practice it knowing that you are not only drawing further from the common bonds of society you are alienating others who might not be charmed by the practice.@"Bullazin" said: this thread is scary. i understand the idea but the underlying message is we are encouraging judgement and demeaning others. not good practice as our societal bonds are being ripped away already sort of difficult to point out flaws while perched precariously on a high horse, isn't it?The only high horses here are the ones you and the others that cant stand to pause or doubt their own actions for a second are riding

If you will notice, I said nothing in this thread other than to delight in the irony of your post. Seems you enjoy pointing out (mistakenly) of how you are so different and so much smarter. Sounds rather elitist. Perhaps someone so concerned would work to repair the societal bonds.Just be careful up there, probably shouldn't take a selfie or pat your back too hard whilst standing on a high horse.
the good thing is they didnt exterminate the bear...at least when i read about this a week or so ago.
