Hmmm...it's like the Vikings organization made a solid choice in releasing Teddy, despite how generally liked/supported he was....

It was a VERY bad and unique injury that Teddy suffered. The longer this process takes to get better, the worse his odds of sticking on the Jets. They are only in to him for $500,000, so he could be dumped before the regular season.

He went from fans chanting his name and certain the team had their future QB to being released by Minnesota and tenuously holding on to a possible backup position at best all in 2 years. He deserves better, but we all know life isn't always fair, especially when it comes to injuries in the NFL. What I find interesting is that he went from being the primary backup behind Keenum to not being even healthy enough to fully participate in an offseason practice? Some kind of setback must have occurred that isn't being reported. I wish him the best.

Minnesota is so rock solid at QB depth with Simeian and Sloter its kind of crazy....a healthy Trevor Simeian is as good a backup as their is in the NFL. If he plays well in preseason and gets a game or two to show his stuff in a mop-up or short term injury situation, Minnesota might be able to trade him in the offseason for something in the 3rd or 4th round where he'll get to compete again for a starting job.

I hope he plays again. I doubt either Teddy or the team would be interested, but selfishly I'd be really happy to see him back in MN someday down the road. He's still very young, you never know.

I’m not sure “Rock Solid” are the words I would use. Trevor Simeian, meh and Sloter has yet to take a snap in any kind of game for the Vikings.
There have been a lot of All Pro Preseason players come and go for the Vikings, this one is being dubbed that having never thrown a single pass in any kind of game for Minnesota.
I, of course hope you are correct as it would only benefit the Vikings. I’m just not holding my breath.

Oh, and as far as Teddy goes. I hope he is able to play again. He was a great guy for the Vikings and it would be nice to see him succeed.
I do think if his playing days end soon, he will land on his feet and do well in whatever profession he chooses. He seems to be that kind of kid.

I am kind of curious about Sloter.  I look forward to seeing him in preseason just to see what his game is like.

Well, I am not sure if this says anything about Teddy's recovery, but he was not the first QB the Jets cut after the draft. Bryce Petty has that honor. And I do not think Petty was an early cut to allow him to catch on with another team.  I assume Teddy was ahead of him on the depth chart.  And he is head and shoulders better than  Hackenberg, too. If he gets cut, it has to be a knee issue and that could be it for Teddy.

He's a UFA after 2018.

Its a good catch, Geoff. I knew that and then forgot it. Thanks for the reminder.

If Simeian and Sloter both show well.. perhaps we trade TS out of camp or early in the year for a day 2 pick and roll with Sloter at the #2... or perhaps its to early to even be speculating.

What did we give a 5 rounder for him? I think he would have to have an awesome TC to get a early day 2 pick for him Jimmy. I would like to see what Sloter has to show this year.

depends on whose starting QB goes down early in the year.  if we could turn that 5th rounder into a 3rd rounder...good trade.

I have always been a Teddy guy but it looks like for the franchise that the Vikings front office once again made the right call.  Teddy should have let the contract toll (Teddy would have ended up with more money I think the Jets will cut him) and I think the Vikings would have kept him, but to commit to Teddy more than that toll contract would have been foolish given the unsure state of his knee.

I really hope Teddy recovers fully.

Maybe the Vikings never even pursued tolling the contract because they didn't think Teddy would be worth the $2 million next year based on the status of his knee.

I'm not sure we'll ever know the truth.

I don't think Bridgewater will ever be the same. That leg will continue to be a potential problem, the injury was just too severe. If he's not deemed healthy by end of training camp, the Jets will cut him and no other team will probably touch him this season. Can't commit to a roster spot for someone that might not be able to play. He'll get another chance next late Spring for the 2019.

No, he probably won't be, but what a come-back story it would make. I feel really bad for the kid, I hope he's made enough $$ of that rookie contract to be set for some time.

We'll know more about his physical status I suspect be end of August...

If he gets cut,  I wonder if he would return to Minny with the designation to go right to IR?  He could still train with the team and possibly be an option in19 to back up Cousins.  Siemien will be a FA and who knows whats in Sloters future.  If he really cant catch on with the Jets he is really not ready this year I would think.

I don't see how Teddy going on IR in 2019 is an option...  he's already sat out the entire 2016 season and only played a handful of snaps in 2017.  If he's healthy, he'll easily win a roster spot with the Jets.  If they cut him, it'll be because that knee is a major concern.  If that's the case...  I doubt he plays again.  We'll see...

I wouldnt see what it would hurt.  if healthy he is a talent,  if he isnt healthy in a year he retires.  he wouldnt count against the cap or the roster so I dont see a negative in kicking the tires if the jets release him.
