Matty Ice Gets Paid
Matt Ryan - QB - FalconsFalcons signed QB Matt Ryan to a six-year, $169.25 million contract through 2023.
That's $28.2 million per year, but it's $30 million per year during the extension seasons. That's a threshold that had previously never been crossed in the NFL, and rarely even in other North American sports. It will soon become routine for quarterbacks. Ryan produced as many turnovers as touchdowns in 2015 before his stunning MVP campaign in 2016. He was somewhere in between in 2017. Two weeks shy of his 33rd birthday, Ryan should still have multiple years left of potential elite play. Emphasis on "potential." Ryan sometimes needs to be elevated instead of doing the elevating himself. He has a new No. 2 receiver for 2018 in first-rounder Calvin Ridley.Source: Chris Mortensen on Twitter

To bad for their fans. He will never bring them a championship. But he is capable of getting close. So maybe he is worth it!

More total money for Ryan but stretched over 5 years so his Cap hit is still below 20 million. Cousins cap hit this year is 24 million.
Ryan is 32 and this was a 6 year deal = 38
Rodgers is 34......???
Cousins is 29 and his deal was for 3 years = 32 and another chance at big K
No doubt the Packers are going to have to pay Rodgers more then either in terms of Guaranteed but can they stretch the hit over 6 years to 40 years old? The Guaranteed amounts might really come back to bite the Falcons and Packers if their play goes down or injury/age decline.
Spotrac:
Matt Ryan signed a 5 year, $150,000,000 contract with the Atlanta Falcons, including a $46,500,000 signing bonus, $100,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $30,000,000. In 2018, Ryan will earn a base salary of $6,000,000 and a signing bonus of $46,500,000, while carrying a cap hit of $17,700,000 and a dead cap value of $96,900,000.
I say around 20 million more Guaranteed so 120,000,000. Over what period and how much total? If 5 years then around 170,000,000 total???

I hope we draft QB next year, Cousins will be cashing In again.
