Completely stupid, totally ridiculous question

Would you give up the 19th pick for Diggs who is going into his last year under contract?
I think I would take a first for him, but I don't know what his contract talks have sounded like but I think Geoffs estimates sound like to much money.
The Cowboys could simply take a WR themselves. But Diggs is a vet and a winner, and it would make some sense, rather than waiting for a rookie to develop. Guessing Diggs will get $14m per.
If I'm them, I might ask for a later-round pick back in exchange.
...and don't get me wrong -- I like Diggs. Just not sure any WR is worth that much, especially if you've got a great QB throwing the ball.
This year's crop of WR's is pretty weak. Diggs value would never be higher. That being said, after signing Cousins you don't take away his weapons unless you're Washington 2.0
MGO: Arguing in favor (it's my post, so it's kinda my obligation).
If Cousins is worth his money, if you protect him he can get by with a non-elite WR.
You could take an OL at #19. McGlinchy might be in range at #19, ahead of Cinci.
At #30, you see what falls to you. Maybe an OG, maybe a WR. Maybe a CB.
We know we are likely to lose one of our studs in the next couple years to contract demands amd cap issues, why not take that off the table and get a first round pick In return?
Cousins put up 4k with garbage around him...trade Diggs for the #19, sign me up, please and thank you...you're in the garden spot for McGlinchy, add the best guard available at #30, run your passing game through Theilen, Rudy, Wright, and Cook...plenty of WRs With our second...Maybe Treadwell decides to listen to the coaches...sit back and watch Diggs contract a terminal groin pull at $14 million a year...priceless...
I'm not sure when Desean Jackson, Pierre Garcon, Jordan Reid, Vernon Davis and a good OL became trash. But he should have a better team around him now other than maybe the OL. I guess he should have no excuses for anything other than stellar results.
The way I see it is the Vikings are clor to Winning the superb owl . We are a better team with Diggs than with out . That being said I think Diggs is the player we are most likely to lose to free agency because we pay is nuts it seems. But I would prefer to keep Diggs this year hope llc win the alusI've trophy than trade digs for a 1 pick at say 19. Get a rookie who may not contribute this year or at all.worse case is keep Diggs this year and if we can't afford to keep him we may just win the prize this year and get a 3rd round comp pic in 2 years .so my question is would u rather have no Diggs this year and a superb owl championship and a future round 3 pick or possibly a extra first round this year no Diggs a thin write core depth wise and a draft pick that may not contribute ever.the drafts a crap shoot I would rather be stronger this year get the prize and then if Diggs ,price is two hi we still get a future 3rd
Randy Moss Troy Williamson. We can just replace him with that shiny new draft pick. How did that work out.

And I love me some Thielen too.
Needs more cayenne seasoning to take it over the top - give that DC some heartburn.
Growth in cap is tailwind for the Vikes...I think they can improve OL this draft AND keep the big 3 (Diggs, Kendricks, Barr). It's the resigning Thielen with those 3 that does give me pause. Wish I had more faith in the Vikings to draft a decent WR via scouting talent vs luck ala Diggs/Adam.

I am all about the cayenne but it depends on what is done with the combo. Also I think DeFilippo's input and influence will be huge and take the offense to the next level. I love Diggs and I hope they keep him but we'll have to wait and see what happens. I am looking forward to seeing Cousins in action as well.

Thats about where we got Treadwell. A first pick would be great to get, but wish we had his proven replacement in hand before. Might make sense i we were rebuilding but you wont replace Diggs talent this year@"ap88ap28" said: Randy Moss Troy Williamson. We can just replace him with that shiny new draft pick. Foolish move. Could be seen as a bait and switch by the Cousins camp.
@"ap88ap28" said:we are not talking about trading Diggs an using that pick for another receiver ala Moss/Williams. We are talking about taking a rental player (which is possibly what Diggs is at 1 year left on his contract and potentially parlaying that into a 4 year starter at RT or another area of immediate impact. Williamson was a mistake on so many fronts its not even funny or worth talking about anymore. Treadwell was the last of what... 4 or 5 receivers taken in that round? At 19 we would have had 2nd choice not 4th.@"JimmyinSD" said:No not talent wise. More like a known and and unknown. We got a # 7 pick for Moss we were sure we could get something great with that. How did that work out. Are you honestly putting Diggs in the same conversation as Moss?Getting rid of Diggs would be a tough choice, but the way the team is unfolding, are we really going to have a QB making close to 30, and 2 WR making aver 25 combined? about 1/3 of our cap in 3 offensive players? I think when they signed Cousins they said we are going to be a QB centric team, and part of that is a solid OL, with those 2 things that QB should be able to make 8 million dollar guys look like 15 million dollar guys.
I dont want a 1 and done approach, if they are looking for a trophy, they need to keep looking big picture and doing what is best for not only this years chances, but the next couple years teams as well. The only way I dont think I would do this deal are if Diggs camp appears willing to do a long term deal in that 10 to 11.5 range, or if the team and AT's camp are good with his deal playing out as written for the next 3 years. ( which Geoff says isnt likely to happen) Diggs is a good talent, but his inability to stay healthy and him not really being a dominant WR IMO make him expendable in an extreme situation. turning a 1 year guy into a 1st round pick that only cost you a 4th rounder 3 years ago.... thats a pretty extreme opportunity IMO.
Id do the trade. Dallas wouldnt. Diggs plays 1/2 a season due to injury anyway so its not like he’s on tge field anyway.
Youd have to track down a mid teir veteran WR though.
If McGlinchy is still there at #19, it would be an interesting thought...
no way the vikings or any team with a impact and ascending player like Diggs proactively trades them for the 19th pick.
its frankly ludicrious to even consider. diggs a top 20 wr by almost all acounts. could easily move into top 10 with Cousins.
ok, this is just false. dude missed 2 games last year. but dont let facts get in the way

I am a fan of this team first, just like all of you, but there sure seems to be a lot of people lately who'd have no problem seeing us lose Diggs. I don't get it. I know the guy has had injury issues but I don't see why anyone would want to mess with what we have at WR right now. Is anybody REALLY thinking about how LONGGGGG it has been since we've had a good starting WR duo??? It's been a long time, guys and girls...
And FWIW, injury concerns aside the guy brings a lot to this team with his work ethic and competitiveness....sure seems to be a team guy and just had a real nice season. I'm pretty damn excited to see what he's going to do with Cousins throwing to him.
For those who think losing Diggs is no big deal, does anybody remember who was lost at the beginning of last year? Losing Cook was a huge blow, right? Anybody worried now about how durable he's going to be?? It was a concern about him in college (just likes it was for Diggs). I AM worried...but I love DC33 and I sure as hell wouldn't want to trade him in a year or two because I'm worried about whether or not he'll get hurt again. Every time these guys take the field they risk injury. I guess we'll just have to shut the team down then, right?? Somebody could get hurt...
