Interesting and confirms what most of us thought:

Zimmer on Teddy: "I thought he looked good in practice and moved around well but the reports I got back weren't as positive. There was more recovery to be done." #vikings
On Teddy Bridgewater's knee, Mike Zimmer said he felt the quarterback was progressing well in practice, but the Vikings medical staff had concerns and felt there were limitations. "The reports I’d get back from the medical people weren’t as positive as I was about it," Zimmer said. "That’s kind of how it came down is that his knee wasn’t as…he still has some recovery to do. When I watched him in practice he moved well, I didn’t see limitations but from what I told was there was some."

Hence the pickle we were in in regards to keeping him...Wasn't ready to compete for starter and when you have a situation like they had with Cousins hitting the FA market? They did what I as a fan expected them to do. Shoot for the moon and don't compromise tomorrow with draft picks ala Herschel Walker.

If the medical staff is saying that there are still issues with Teddy's knee, then letting him hit free agency was an absolute no brainer. I'm glad he passed his physical with the Jets and I hope that his knee continues to improve and that he gets paid in the millions. He seems like a great young guy and I wish him luck. But we needed someone with two good knees and that is not Teddy. Or Sam.

I think this is really all we can do as Viking's fans. The organization made the right decision for them in letting TB go....it really isn't even a debate. But its very unfortunate how it all went down for Teddy with that gruesome injury.

To be honest, I am a bit disappointed in Zimmer for putting this out. All Teddy has done is be loyal to him and the team. I am sure he could have found a way to not provide this detail.
It's great for Viking fans in terms if closure but does not bode well for Teddy, the Jets organization and fans from a PR standpoint.

On another note I give him props for making it seem like Teddy was ready to takeover if Case faltered. We all believed it.

Agree, why kick the dog?  The dude is gone.  Wish him your best and go on with life.  No need to speculate or tip off other teams that he might not be 100%.  Just say that the organization made a decision to move onto Cousins and be done with it.

It's not like the Jets don't know. Look, there's this little undercurrent of ignorance that is trying to suggest that Teddy Bridgewater was not very good to begin with and that's the reason he's in the position he's in. Could be this is Zimmer's response to that.

It could also be that this is Zimmer defending himself a little bit for putting Teddy in a game, in harm's way, before he was actually ready. We all know he couldn't wait to get Teddy in a game. "He looked good to me. I didn't see limitations." Either something happened between that game and his deactivation, or Zimmer decided to heed the advice of his medical staff.

I think it’s quite obvious the Vikings had more than enough time to evaluate all 3 QB’s
& detect any & all “flaws”

& Maybe Zim just wanted Teddy fans know it wasn’t anything personal  ;)

Alright, it looks like there were more quotes and this one might be taken out of context.....imagine that

More Zimmer on Teddy: "I always remember Teddy as the quarterback who
finished 11-5 (in 2015) and beat Green Bay up there for the division. So
that part of was difficult."

Zimmer really mourning loss of Teddy as young, franchise quarterback
with whole career ahead of him: "I always told him you and I are going
to be together forever. My career’s going to go as long as your career
goes. But it just didn’t work out that way."

So...Teddy was a series of question marks, just as some believed.

He's young, and one never knows if he might be back, someday.  I hope he heals as well as possible above and beyond anything he may do with the Jets.

Yep.  The team did the best in the situation presented.  We had an option at a franchise type QB and had to take it.

Again I go back to Zimmer's media handling of our QB situation last year.  He got blasted by the media and some here for not "choosing" Case as his starter and leaving the door open for Teddy.  Even giving Teddy some snaps in the Cinci game.  Something seemed fishy when he didn't get any snaps later in the year when we were winning against GB and the Bears (?).

But he played the media, making it seem like Teddy was on the cusp of retaking the job.  He let the media continue barking up that tree so it wouldn't be exposed that we only had Case at QB with the sushi raw Sloter as backup.  If GB or one of the other teams knew that, it would have exposed Case to some possible dirty hits.

How is he kicking the dog?

I think it is a bit as MB sez, people are going to question Zimmer putting him in the game against Cinci, so maybe he is covering his tracks a bit.  And as I just stated above, I think Zimmer played the media and possibly the NFL injury reporting a bit.  So now he has to clean up the details.

I will forever wish the best for teddy (except against the vikes). this kid deserved better (not a blown up knee). Something just doesn't add up - a nonplant leg blowing up in noncontact drills? him not even saying goodbye to the team that drafted him and helped him recover? hmmm... anyway. GUMP had something special about him, its just to bad it had to turn out this way.

I did not think he had recovered either and the decision was easy.

I don't see how he can play again.  Tough break for sure, but he made good money.

Good point about Bridgewater not sending any kind of farewell message to the Vikings team and fans. Very clear he left in a bad mood, probably because the Vikings were being honest about his future.

Where did you hear this.  Zimmer said Teddy texted him and he replied wishing him well.

I don't see this as Coach Zimmer kicking the dog at all. He was being honest. Why is that an issue? He loves Teddy and it seemed like he felt bad. He said he was more positive than the medical staff. Maybe that was a bit of the emotional part and some reflection over time.
