The Rams are being very aggressive.  They are signing Suh for 1 year $14M and are talking to the Giants about trading for Odell. Wow!

He and Donald could do some damage. With all the stepping on hands, knees, faces and whatnot...

I wonder how well Suh, Talib and Peters will work together.

The west is looking more difficult all the time. Seattle appears to be much weaker but the Rams and Niners are getting stronger

Wow, very aggressive FO/Ownership...Rams are back on the power map for sure. NFC is so frigging loaded. Crazy good.

McVay will have his hands full. Talented but at what cost to team culture?

The Eagles still have the best defensive line in football.

Having a franchise QB on a rookie contract is a huge advantage.  But you also need a first rate head coach and coaching staff, which the Rams and Eagles have (although the Eagles have lost a few coaches recently), and a front office that can identify talent and manage the cap. We have all of that except the QB on a rookie contract part.  Should make for an interesting NFC.

I wouldn't call McVay a first rate HC, because he's so young, but having Phillips as his DC is a big boon to him and a lot of his questionable character issue guys will all be on the D side.

I'm hoping this blows up in their faces though.  There's a lot of tempting fate going on there.

Well, McVay certainly turned around the Rams' offense in a hurry. Phillips has dealt with explosive personalities before. He handles them well. But Suh really has not been an issue for some time now.  Peters is a gambling CB. He needs the D-Line to get pressure on the QB quickly then he jumps routes. Their D-Line looks like it should be able to get pressure on the QB quickly. Peters could do well in L.A. next year.  I hope this blows up in their face. I would not count on it.

This reminds me of some of the Washington teams that tried to buy a championship - and ended up with half their cap space sucked up by former players for the next few years. The 2018 Rams also feel a lot like the Raiders did in 2017: "Oh wow they were good last year and now they added some great free agents!" But teams that sucked for a decade and then suddenly win their division tend to take a step back the following year.

Good article by SI on the up & down of Suh & Donald

”...So that’s the good. The bad—or, more accurately, the caveat—is that this dynamic defensive tackle duo doesn’t suddenly make Los Angeles a surefire top-10 defense. Two big questions remain. First, with both men being classic first-and second-down 3-techniques, who moves to 1-technique on running downs, and how will that go? And second, can a defense afford to have TWO linemen who take as many risks as Donald and Suh? When they penetrate and make the play, it’s beautiful. But when they penetrate and don’t make the play, the defense gets gashed.”

I wish I could find some of the positives from this that you guys are, but man this is scary. No two ways around it.

It's damned frustrating to watch this team put together the best roster of talent I've seen in 45 years of watching the Vikings....a roster that in most years would dominate the NFL.

...and then notice that the Eagles and the Rams are doing the same goddam thing.

Agree completely.  Wondering how the Saints are doing also.  Post season is going to be toughr than last year.  At least the young Vikes got a taste of it and maybe more importantly, losing.
Homefield advantage is going to be huge again.  Each loss....

That was my point.  Yes they are both capable of dominance.  But aggression can be game planned against.  Shurmur seemed to have a good plan against the Rams last year.  Hopefully DeFilipo can do the same.

Well, if I was Aaron Donald, I would now want about $24M per year and tell the Rams they have no excuses. He held out last year...but maybe they are both going to sing Kumbaya and hold hands with teammates in the locker room.

Regular season is huge in the NFL. Only 16 games too - stakes are high each week.
