It appears Vikes have three with Rudolph, Morgan and Blake Bell.

Morgan is mainly blocking but he had some interesting receptions last year.  Bell had 12 catches in 15, 4 in 16 and 3 last year.  I was reading that Cousins likes running dual TE sets in Washington.

I would expect them to start looking for the next pass catching TE.  I am wondering how this draft looks to fill the void.

Athletic TE's to watch:
Dallas Goedert
Mike Giesicki (sp?)
Hayden Hurst
Ian Thomas
Dalton Schultz

The first 3 guys can't block worth beans, but all five are serious weapons in the pass game.

I think the team really liked Bell.  He seemed to be coming on but then got hurt (and went on the IR)?

thanks Greed,  I was wondring.

I really enjoyed seeing Morgan rumbling the rock last season.  A bit hilarious and he enjoyed it also.

I the range of capabilites of Geodert and Giseiki.  Both are pass catchers that can move around to slot and fen outside to creat mismatches.

I think Goederts blocking is a bit under rated.  He struggled there a couple years ago,  but has improved to the point that I dont think its  a huge talker.

Borh Morgan and Bell played well last season.  Assuming they are healthy now, it seems to me we need to look first at OL help from the draft.

aAnd I’m disappointed about Jerius Wright being cut.  i had hopes we would bring him back.  But maybe Zim and coaches know something about Coley and Floyd that makes this decision easier.  Hope so.  Stacey looked good in preseason.  And Floyd just seemed ignored by our offense last year.  maybe that changes with Flip.

Agreed, but at the moment Floyd is a free agent and have not heard if the Vikings want to bring him back.

With DT issue addressed I agree that the O line is the priority.  We saw what happened to the offense when the O line suffered injuries.  It doesnt seem realistic to expect the starting 5 will make it an entire season.
It seems an additional pass catcher makes sense and Cousins supposedly likes dual TEs.  Another true pass catcher could be an asset.  I was wondering what the landscape looked like and if one could be had in the later rounds.

Dallas Goedert would be really intriguing...  he's can block a little bit, but that's not the reason you're drafting him.  You're drafting him because he's a big, athletic pass catcher with a HUGE catch radius.  The guy's highlight reel is INSANE.  I've seen some comparisons to Zach Ertz, but he looks more like Travis Kelce to me.  Huge hands, good speed, can run after the catch.  The Vikings have been looking for a pass catching TE to pair with Rudolph...  MyCole Pruitt didn't stick and neither did Bucky Hodges.  I'm having a hard time pegging where he'll go...  he's a small school guy that dominated a lower level of competition, but his athletic ability jumps off the screen.  Personally, I'd be fine taking him at #30, but I wouldn't be surprised if he slipped into Day 2 of the draft.  He might be too much of a luxury to take early, but the Vikings don't have any glaring holes on the roster.  Plus, he would add another weapon for our highly paid QB who just so happens to love working with two TEs.
Mike Gesicki is another guy that is a good receiver and athlete.  If the Vikings aren't looking to spend an early pick on a 2nd TE, this guy would probably be the best value in terms of his ability to play right away and he likely will still be on the board at the end of Day 2/early Day 3.
If the Vikings wait until the 5th round or later, I like Troy Fumagalli.  He's not the athlete that these other guys are...  but he has good hands (despite missing a finger).  He kind of reminds me of Chase Anderson from a couple years ago.

one thing about Goedert ( i think the kid is going to be very very good )  his dad is a cowboys fan and DG himself is a packer fan growing up.... so theres that.  I dont think he will make it past the middle of the second round and wouldnt be at all surprised to see him gone before we pick in the first.

about his blocking,  he can do it, but at State he wasnt asked to do much of it  because he is more valuable drawing a double team down field than to occupy 1 guy at the LOS.  and teams constantly doubled him.

Goedert's highlight reel is full of amazing one hand catches in the end zone. Those passes were on ly to be caught by him or go out of bounds. Amazing soft hands. Can't hurt to add another talented SD kid! I have heard the Lions will be very interested in him, that would be hard to watch for me as a Jackrabbit and Viking fan.
