Having lived in the South (North Carolina) for the past 15 years and having raised 2 children here, I can tell you that "southern hospitality" is usually a farce. Very lovey-dovey to your face, but gossiping pricks behnd your back. I much prefer an "East Coast" attitude and know where I stand. My wife is Chinese, but that accounted for only about 50% of the crap myself and my wife and kids experienced.

  It's a FACT that NYC is the center of finance, media, art and yes, entertainment in this country. I'm not suggesting that other cities are not "worthy"' in any of these venues, but it is just silly to not acknoledge/comprehend that a metro area that has @ 20 million residents won't be drivers of trends in most arenas.

P.S. You wouldn't last 3 months in NYC, pumpf. Darwin's law. But I'm sure your response will be you wouldn't want to live in NYC. Doesn't change the fact that you COULDN'T survive in NYC.

I think what is driving most of the sour grapes from NYC isn't that Cousins chose Minnesota in particular, it's that he took LESS MONEY.  Think about it: how many free agents in their prime, whatever the sport, say "It's not about the money, then immediately turn around and take the biggest offer?  Pretty much all of them, and I don't blame them in a profession where careers are barely a decade if you're fortunate.

Now take the Jets (please)  Rim shot, thank you I'll be here all offseason :p 

They went into FA with the most cap space in the NFL, made the biggest offer, and got turned down. THIS. DOESN'T. HAPPEN. It felt like a slap in the face to the Jets because it WAS.  Cousins told the Jets non-verbally as loudly as you can, "You suck!".  And even fans who know their team currently stinks don't like it shoved in their faces. 

On top of that, by the time the Jets realized Cousins didn't give a crap how much they offered, FAQB options B(radford) and C(ase) were already off the board, leaving Jets fans expecting Cousins and ending up with a resigned McCown and a mystery in Bridgewater. Cue backlash.

  just think of all those Viking fans now silent who were chomping at the bit to spew venom at Cousins for taking the $ over a > chance to win a SB ring than the Jets could offer.

Typical Midwest "we're nicer than you are" schpiel.    Having grown up/lived/worked in the NYC area, I can tell you from a first hand perspective that "transplant" New Yorkers are MUCH worse than native NYer's in NYC. And the MAJORITY of those jackasses are from the Midwest and South. Trying too hard to compensate, I guess.

1. Where Cousins comes from originally (Michigan) in this fine US of A really has nothing to do with why he chose the Vikings over the Jets, so attributing his signing with the Vikings to "he's a Midwestern boy" really isn't the truth.
2. The Jets having the most money didn't sway Cousins to go there, not because NYC and Jersey suck (and I don't think they do, btw) but because the Jets aren't ready for prime time. Their team is still a work in progress and will be that way more than likely for the foreseeable future.
3. Kirk Cousins came to Minnesota because of the Minnesota Vikings team, the coaches, the front office, and the facility....but, he also came because of the money. We paid him a fully guaranteed contract, a historical contract, the FIRST fully guaranteed contract in the NFL. Now, the Jets offered the same dealio with even more money, but please see #1.
4. Don't think that Captain Kirk wouldn't have went to the Broncos had they been able to pony up the kind of cash the Vikings did. If the shoe was on the other foot, and it was Denver who offered him a 3 year 84 million deal and the Vikings offered less, he'd be a Bronco.
So, IMO Cousins wanted a great chance to win BUT he also wanted the $$$$. He said so himself in interviews. He wanted both. He got both.

I don't think he would have chosen the  broncos if all else was equal$---they are not close to a deep playoff run even if healthy.  We also need to knock on wood for health wise but are in a better position for  potential playoff scenarios
