What would Sheldon Richardson bring to the Vikings?

While the price tag on the former Jet and Seahawk would be high, he would fill the void left by Sharrif Floyd, whose career appears to be over due to a knee injury.

While Tom Johnson and Shamar Stephen did a good job for the Vikings on the interior defensive line last season, Richardson would give the Vikings an every-down three-technique defensive tackle who can rush the passer and stuff the run at a high level.
Over his career, Richardson has averaged around 80 percent of total snaps, topping out at 87 percent in 2015 with the Jets. The 27-year-old DT played 63 percent last season on a strong Seahawks defensive line.

A 3T that can beat his G and get into the middle of the pocket, disrupts those QBs who get the ball out quickly. it gets them off their mark and timing. It doesnt always have to translate into sacks, but hurries and incompletions. Ill take those every Sunday.

Sounds like Richardson has fallen off the last 2 years. Why, and if he's so great, why is Seattle letting him walk? Something doesn't quite add up.

Agreed. Yet I want to see him next to Linval.

Hopefully he doesn’t bring this...

On July 14, 2015, less than two weeks after receiving his suspension for failing the league's substance abuse policy, Richardson was arrested in St. Charles County, Missouri and charged with resisting arrest and traffic violations. He was reportedly street racing in excess of 140 miles per hour before attempting to evade the authorities pursuing him. Two other men and a 12-year-old were found to be in the car, all of whom smelled of marijuana. A loaded handgun was found beneath the driver's seat.He was not charged with any drug charges or child endangerment since according to the prosecutor, there was not enough evidence for a case that was beyond a reasonable doubt. There was no gun charge since guns are legal in Missouri and Richardson was in proper possession of it.
On January 26, 2016, he was found guilty of reckless driving and resisting arrest. He was fined $1,050, received 2 years of probation, and was ordered to undergo 100 hours of community service.

Seattle wants to sign him, but they have been fighting contract terms for a year. Plus, why would Richardson want to go back to that train wreck?

Look at how the Seattle "Legion of Boom" defense has been decimated.  The Purple People Eaters are on the ascent.  Money is one thing...winning is more valuable once you have attained the ability to pay your bills and keep a roof over your head.
