NFL breaks out sun dial for Orlando Brown's 40 yard dash.

Heard the guy was targeted for the first round and ran a 5.85 40.  Even less impressive, the fact that he only benched 14 reps and was being yelled at by coaches for "loafing" during drills.  If dangling millions of dollars in front of your face can't light a fire.....what exactly can?

Perhaps he doesn't want to be drafted in the top, but prefers the bottom of the 1st round?  Didn't his dad play for the Browns?  Could want to avoid that...

That could be a possibility.  I'm not sure where his dad played, but Mayock did have him ranked as his second tackle.

That is tough.  I do not think he is able to run much faster.  But his tape shows he is able to handle his business on the field.

As long as you do not ask him to pull then you should be OK.

Maybe he will be there in the 3rd round?  Doubtful.

The Combines don't sneak up on you. These guys all know it's coming. He must have run a 40 or 2 at Oklahoma to get an idea of how he would do. He must have done a broad jump and a vertical. If he can't do these things then just announce that you are coming for interviews and medicals but you are not going to risk injury by lifting and running, etc. If anyone wants an idea of what he can do, put on tapes of his games.  Some teams may not like that. Some may decide to pass.  But it is better to have some teams question whether you can do these things than to have all teams know that you cannot.

He just doesn't fit what we do at all.  His slowness is why I want no part of him.  6 years ago, he would have fit in much better with our scheme.  The current team wants to run OL to the second level a lot and he's just not capable of doing it.

All I am saying is that it really does not matter if he knew about the combine or not.

He was never going to run fast no matter how much he practiced.  Just like me trying to dunk.

Here is what Brown said about his 40 time ...

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2018-nfl-combine-orlando-browns-5-85-40-yard-time-is-fifth-slowest-since-2003/

"I've been fat my whole life," he said. "I wish I was fast. If I was
fast, 6-2, I'd probably be playing , but God blessed me.
… It is what it is. I don't necessarily try to live up to his
expectations."

Not sure how he made Unanimous All American last year.

The underwear Olympics are overrated.

He is good.  Very good.

You know what they always say about offensive linemen running over 40 yards during an actual game.  Only one of two things.

At least he did not look like this ...

From an actual scouting perspective his level of athleticism is concerning. Nobody was expecting him to blow it out of the park, but an all-time low performance has to set off some alarms. I get where you are coming from and no, its not easy to be athletic at 6'8" 360. But these drills are designed for players to master quickly with specific pre-combine training. Add in the fact that he was reprimanded for loafing around (this isn't normal) and you start to question if this is an effort issue.

It's definitely memorable just not in the way he would want it to be.

Baker Mayfield tried to step up for Brown. Said Brown’s 40 time does not matter since he will never have to tun that far in a game. Instead, look at the fact that he did not give up a sack last year.

It does not matter whether you agree or not with Mayfield. It matters that Mayfield is trying to protect one of his teammates. Good for him.

The few times I watched the Sooners, every time I focussed on Brown he appeared to be loafing...not that you need maximum effort vs Big 12 Ds...pathetic effort...shows a lack of commitment and sheer stupidity...

Yeah, he's fat alright, but very out of shape too.  He's gonna drop.
