You know you can dismiss announcements as well.  Click on the gear button and select dismiss.  This will effectively unpin them for the individual.

Hmmm...  you learn something new every day.  That's what I did this morning (thinking I was "unannouncing" those posts), but apparently that's only for my view.  LOL
