Its amazing what a loss does.
A month ago most on here were and around the media were really starting to take notice to how young and well built this team was....now we dont even make the top 5 franchises with the possibility of becoming a dynasty. even though every other team but the iggles season ended the same way as ours. for some reason the Vikings accomplishments seem to be forgotten. Did our team really get "exposed" in philly, or was it just one of those games.

also this time last year the conversation was about how blessed this team was to have 2 franchise level QBs in Sam and Teddy when so many other franchises have none. last fall it was an "embarrassment of riches" as it appeared to some that we now had 3 guys that the team could lean on going forward. Yes Sam had another knee injury, but it sounds that it wasnt anything to worry about, Teddy is actually back and practicing full time and ready to go, and although I never went full into the hype surrounding Case, he is a guy that can at least drive the car in the slow lane and get us places however now it sounds like all we have is shit and the team has no chance unless we go nuts and sign somebody elses shiny free agent that although he has question marks of his own.... he has to be better than what we have.
this isnt about cousins, but how did our own guys fall out of favor so fast, especially Teddy who hasnt had a chance to even show if hes good, bad, or other? I think only 1 or 2 mentioned cousins all year, but as soon as Case couldnt deliver in philly the Vikings QB bandwagon got awfully empty and the cousins train seems to be the only one on the track.
I just find it interesting how 1 game can have such a profound affect on peoples moods.
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?
Well, things in Cleveland are ‘looking up’, & they had 16! ;) B)
Yep, its science: high expectations + bitter defeat + time to obsess afterwards = disgruntled fans that go with the changing wind directions. At least when you don't have a QB. Which Minnesota never seems to have for longer than a year or two without injury or controversy.
So the new formula upcoming will be: Viking's name starting QB + differing factions of who they wanted from fans + predictions of gloom/pessimism because of it = another offseason of doubt and uncertainty at the most important position in the NFL.

Sometimes it’s about HOW you lose...
Our D gave up 64 points in 6 quarters(7 of those came in the last minute of the 3rd vs the taints so really it’s 64 points in a little over 76 minutes.... and what? ..about a billion yards? So yeah,,,, being a defensive minded person... that sucked and I’m not really sure what we have once a player leaves the field. Was is scheme or was it players? Vikings ended the regular season tied for the best record in the NFL. That’s great.... until your need to win to continue to play. Then it’s wash rinse repeat for the last 40+ years...
No Soup(er Bowl) FOR YOU!
I just wonder how many people move so quickly in real life... they are in love with a girl, ready to marry the girl... and then she farts... its over.

She's not trustworthy. We continue to forgive and come back each time...some quicker than others, shame on us. Its not really a love affair, its a long-term love/hate relationship. The biggest problem is she's not even an ex-wife, because we've never actually gotten married once.
Your comparison is weak because it doesn't take into consideration the 50+ years of heartbreak and ultimate heart-wrenching breakups EVERY time.

I’m not sure it makes sense to punish Zimmer’s Vikings for
what happened before his time.I think it makes more sense for the metaphor that we are
punishing our current girlfriend's rough couple of weeks because our previous
girlfriends traumatized us and all we can see is abuse in every action.
I can totally understand that perhaps a prerequisite for
becoming a dynasty is to lock down a franchise QB, but I’m not sure how the
Jaguars are on there and we’re not. They
kind of just gloss over that point and suggest that “but the Jags will get a QB”.
I think the Vikings are the epitome of a dynasty. They just need to find a dynasty worthy QB, whether its on the roster or not.

The talking heads see that we have no starting QB under contract along with no O Coordinator in house. Seems rather unsettling that a 13-3 team has both of those issues to solve.
When we do land our OC and make our QB decision, we can then start to understand how our Offense will take shape for 2018 and beyond. But that is why I think we are not looked at as a "top 5" future potential dynasty team right now.

To me it's simple. Zimmer's a Defensive Guru who's Number #1 Defense and historically great 3rd Down Defense got shredded for 6+ Quarters as Zerk pointed out.
The identity of the Team nationally was Defense full of great Players and Guru Coach with Plucky Underdog Career Backup QB.
The Defense wasn't great. The bloom faded from the underdog QB.
It would be different if the Defense was missing a Household Name in Philadelphia. Clay Matthews has sucked for years...but he's a Household Name. He gets hurt and the story becomes GB's Defense falters without Star Player everyone has heard of.
Although they should be, Harrison Smith, Xavier Rhodes, Everson Griffin and Linval Joseph aren't Household Names. Nor were they out for all 6 quarters the Defense floundered.
And the Offense was nearly blanked the last time they were seen on National TV. Meanwhile, Philadelphia, New England, New Orleans and Pittsburg had no problems scoring. Even Jacksonville was moving the ball well and nationally Bortles is considered a bust.
The other narrative here is that the Rams, Falcons, Panthers and Saints have the same opportunity to improve this offseason that Minnesota has with the major difference being that they already have their QBs in place. Same thing in the AFC with Pittsburg and New England. Jacksonville gets a QB and they might be ready to unseat Brady.
All that before you start wondering if Seattle can fix their O-Line, how much will San Fran improve, etc., and I'm not surprised the Vikings aren't getting a lot of love right now.
The Vikings got beat twice in the playoffs. They may have won the Saints game but the Saints beat them before the follow-up beating by the Eagles
@"Hidalgo" said: The Vikings got beat twice in the playoffs. They may have won the Saints game but the Saints beat them before the follow-up beating by the EaglesPretty sure the Aint's fans don't feel that way.
The Vikes were gassed. Griffin, Sendejo, Rhodes were all battling injuries not including Thielen and the O line shuffling. The aggressive team we saw against the Rams and Falcons wasn't there the last two weeks.
Bud was correct in saying "it's not who you play but when you play them."
To be fair, it was a huge loss. They got their asses kicked which was a major downer after the elation of the previous game. And yes it was one game but they did get exposed to a degree. There was a lack of creativity and adjustments. I know there were a lot of injuries too. But there were OL issues and the defense was scrambling. The talking heads usually talk down about the Vikings, so that is not surprising. If they don't sustain the quality of play next season, then they will see it as a fluke. Maybe this will help propel the offense to a higher level in regard to scoring and line play. There is still the unresolved (at least publicly) in regard to the qb position. And some questions on defense. Hopefully, the right decisions get made and they keep moving forward. But it is definitely something to learn from.
i say we fire all of them. zim, the d the on and ziggy. :)
