Teddy Throwing Dimes in practice during 2017 - Per Kendricks

@"Purplewhizz" said:Yeah, exactly. And its practice. I'm glad that Teddy looked good in practice, but this isn't a reason to make him the guy. The reason to make him 'the guy' comes from cumulative factors and I'm sure the staff is putting it thru that prism. Some fans get stoked over this kind of thing, but its very anecdotal.@"Neptizzle" said: i love Teddy. if he is dropping bombs and is healrhy enough to last, he is my choice. @"Tom Moore" said: I continue to be in the camp where I favor Sam and Case over Teddy. I don't care about age, I just want to win. This team has a 3 year window (maybe) with an elite defense (Philly was an aberration). With blocking, Sam is the best choice and it's not close, but you never know when the knee will give out again. Case is a gamer, and more than a game manager. Teddy is a great guy and read defenses well, he just couldn't (then) throw an accurate deep ball, and we all know his injury.I favor a Bradford-Sloter combo, but I'll ride with whomever they go with.
Lol, Thread title like that has every Tedhead getting a boner.
As a fan, on the outside looking in, I'd have way to many questions on Bridgewater, Bradford too for that matter. Hopefully Sugarman has given RS and Zimm good medical intel.
I'd say Case and Sloter in 18 with Case at a Glennon type deal.
That or Cousins...
Dayum, that would mean kicking two #1 picks spent on QB's to the curb along with Floyd and Patterson too. Ouchie.

And what about the Mental Cases? Losing all those #1 picks would give the anti-RS crowd a woody as well.

it should be good news for any Vikings fan in case Teddy is who they end up signing. Kinda like the news on Bradfords knees supposedly not a concern moving forward for Zim. It all might be bull shit posturing, but it still might be good news for our team.

Kendricks isn't going to say bad things about anyone. It just isn't done. But if his response had been equivocal or hawing in any way it would've been obvious and telling. Instead he was damn near gushing. Yes, it's anecdotal, but it should be good news for all of us. It's a shame so many try to force everything through a partisan lens.

as far as the news... I am not really surprised that Teddys accuracy is top notch, all he has been able to do for a year is throw and throw and throw, he hasnt really been able to work on the other aspects of his game. IMO if this knee turns out to be a fluke not a sign of other issues, it may be a blessing in disguise for Teddy, he was able to get the 2 years of grooming under in a pro system that IMO is really missing with many of the younger players now that are forced onto the field so quickly.IF (great big if) Teddy can come back without lingering effects and future knee issues, I think he will be in a position to really make some noise. he got a taste of the game year 1 and 2, about lost the biggest thing outside of his mother in his life, had time to really learn under a more polished player in Sam last year and this year, and was able to work on the things that he struggled with in year 1 and 2 as part of his rehab.
If that knee is good, i would have zero issues going with Teddy as long as the team isnt handcuffed to the decision right away. ( I would like a competent vet in the #2 spot to push him though, nobody has "earned" the right to be an undisputed #1 for next year with this team.

Greg Jennings said roughly the same on 1500 today. Cris Carter has been saying the same thing all year. I believe it is pretty much a lock that Bridgewater is on the Vikings roster in 2018.

I will like that, but I am hoping that we arent locked into him and that he is agreeable to a competition because we really need to decent QBs IMO.

Nothing more than like a 2-3 year deal with an out, if needed. I'm against a 1 year deal, as that could just put the Vikings in the same situation next year. Get a solid vet backup/competition. I think Keenum may have priced himself out of that role, maybe Bradford would take a low contract to be the backup, as I'm not sure teams are going to have confidence in him as a starter.
It's still all speculation for now. If they do go with Keenum, I just hope they draft a good QB and don't feel obligated to stick with Keenum if he falters.
The only one don't really want to see as the starter is Bradford. An 8 year career of mediocrity and injuries is enough. Maybe he wouldn't get injured so much if he actually spent some time working out...

I am actually fine with any of them as long as they have to earn their money through performance and by actually being able to play.... and to be able to win a competition. I want our guys to be challenged.

I would say it's far from a lock. I have a feeling we're going to hear "Case is the guy," "Sam is the guy," and "Teddy is the guy" for the next month and a half until we're dizzy and ready to pass out. You're right about Carter, though. He's not been shy about calling out Case and his arm talent weaknesses all year. I wasn't aware of Greg Jennings though.

Teddy hasnt taken a real competitive snap in 2 seasons (sorry mop up duty against the bengals dont count) Teddy has only earned the right to come back and earn the job IMO. I like the kids moxie and I love his personality, but he hasnt earned anything after this long.

It seems like that is just the timeline the Vikings have aligned with: the Vikings felt it was a two year injury (per Zimmer), Bradford came in on two year deal, Keenum got a one year deal, and it's all cumulating for the Vikings to go with Bridgewater and maybe one of the others. IMHO, there are just too many people that state how much Bridgewater means to the Vikings and Zimmer for it to be just fluff.Jennings also talked about Ponder a bit, it was on Mackey and Judd. I listen to it sometimes while I'm working and it's a good week to listen with all of the guests on for Super Bowl week.

Yes, that "face of the franchise" thing is a big thing going in Teddy's favor. I think Case Keenum could grow into that. He seems to be very popular in the community, but Teddy took that to a level I've never seen before. I'm sure that's appealing to Zimmer, Rick and the Wilfs. But the Vikings know the decision has to be made after careful consideration of all factors: health, talent, age, ability, cost...as well as character. All I ask is that the Vikings give this the due diligence it deserves.

now major injury happens and we will see how he comes back. i said it all along that I thjnk Teddy is Zims guy, if he is able to play and we arent in the middle of a magical run with a backup, teddy is this teams qb. in reality if the injury never happened, every single team in NFL wouldve taken Teddy over Sam, Case, and Kirk Cousins.
but the injury did happen and now we have another exciting off season of rumors and specultion. YAY!

If you want to make the case that Teddy "earned" the starting job by being great in college... OK. But the same could be said of ALOT of college QBs, who were drafted high. And most of them did NOT become great NFL QBs. As for the rest of your "defense" of Teddy- you just described him as a "game manager". That label is NOT applied to QBs who are considered "great". That may or may not be fair (Alex Smith was labeled a "game manager"... and he has put up some good stats and just earned himself a boat-load of money)... but that is the general consensus. If you don't think that Teddy was "handed" the job, who did he "beat out" for the job?
