That team peaked at the right time, and was so close to being SB Champs. They would've killed Denver that year.
I can't find it on that page now, but somewhere on that page is a link to an NFLN segment where Peter Shrager is saying that nobody will beat the Vikings at USB. They also say that the Vikings have the smartest fan base in the NFL.
I was working at the Billings Gazette at the time and one of our sportswriters, Joe Kusek, somehow had a blow up picture of Darrin Nelson's drop on his cube wall. Had to go by that picture every day. 30 years later, I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't still there.
